P.D. and his wife Barbara Joyce were happily married for 60 years, and together they raised five children. He was a man of faith, and was a member of Lumberton Church of Christ. He lived for his children and the Lord, and spent much of his time serving others; he worked with the youth for many years at his church and at Camp Red Oak Springs in Newton, Texas. He was always involved in the activities of his children, and even coached his daughter's softball team.
Throughout his life, P.D. accomplished many great things. He earned his Associates Degree from Lamar University and went on to become an Electrician with the Local 479. He was also an entrepreneur, and together with his wife owned several small businesses including, College Mobile Home Sales, Bouquets of Love Florist and Bakery, and Brown's Ribbon Rack. He also learned how to make an awesome latte while working with his daughter at her coffee shop, Grind Daddy's.
P.D. was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Perry Duncan Brown, Sr.; his sister, Martha Brown Franklin; and his brother, Douglas Brown, Sr.
Those left behind to remember P.D. are his loving and devoted wife, Barbara Joyce Brown; his daughters, Deborah Joyce Warton and her husband Kevin, Dajuanna Len Carson and her husband Larry, and Dori Kay Voorhies and her husband Doug; his sons, Perry Duncan Brown III and Patty, and Denny Ray Brown and his wife Cindy; his grandchildren, Rebekah Soto and her husband John, Dinah Michel and her husband Thomas, Kaylee Carson, Cale Carson, Brandi Boyd, Gambrelle Edwards and her husband Matt, Dusty Voorhies, Cory Garza, Jordan Brown, Amy McNeil and Misty McNeil; 9 great-grandchildren; sister Juanita Raye Dorrell and husband Dwain; Sister-in-law Nova Joyce Brown; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Gathering of Friends and Family for P.D. will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703. A Celebration of P.D.'s Life will occur Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Hope.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you would make donations to Hope For Haiti's Children, Camp Red Oak Springs Kitchen Fund, or Sunny Glen Children's Home in San Benito, Texas.
