Peggy as she has been called all her life was born Marguireta Katherine Walsh on October 20, 1922 to Thomas Alan Walsh, Sr. and Maude (Hebert) Walsh in Port Arthur, Texas. Peggy grew up in Port Arthur attending Catholic school graduating in 1941. That same year she married Curley Romero and together they had five children: Allen, Ronny, Jimmy, Debby and Rachal. Curley and Peggy owned and operated the “Tackle Box” a bait and tackle store in the Groves, Texas for many years. After their divorce Peggy and her children moved to Beaumont to work and live.
After a few years she met and married the love of her life Robert Aycock and together they raised Debby and Rachal. The family then relocated to Houston. Peggy went to work for the Hilton Corporation as supervisor of purchases and maintenance over several apartment complexes, she enjoyed the challenge of keeping all those people in line and doing their jobs. After many years she retired from Hilton at 74 she then moved to her home in Daisetta.
Peggy had many talents, one was she loved working in her yard, friends, neighbors and strangers remarked how beautiful it was, people stopped to take pictures of the flowers. After a while she returned to work sitting with the elderly. Another talent was her cooking, family and friends always raved about it asking her often to make their favorite dishes. She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary VFW every place she lived. In 2010 Peggy moved to Longview to be close to Rachal and grandchildren where she lived until her death.
Peggy is survived by daughters Rachal Willis and Debby LaCoure (Bobby) son Jimmy Romero (Tina) 14 grandchildren: 26 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Aycock, sons Allen and Ronny Romero, sisters Julia Myers, Jean Simar, brother Tommy Walsh, son-in-law Tom Willis.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 pm on June 20,2020 at Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703.
A reception will be held after the services at 29 John Loop, Lumberton, Texas. Everyone is welcome.
