Lucky Acker passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. He was born September 19, 1937 in Benton, MS, to Ready and Stella Acker of Beaumont.
Lucky spent the majority of his life in Beaumont and graduated from South Park High School in 1957, where he met and married Patsy Grantham. They, and newborn daughter, Belinda, lived one very cold year in Pennsylvania, where Lucky worked on pipeline construction. They moved back to a warmer Beaumont and Lucky started working for DuPont Beaumont Works. They had two more children, Cindy and David. Lucky retired after 36 years with DuPont. Lucky served in The National Guard and was a Mason.
Lucky enjoyed fishing and hunting with friends, and with son, David, on their "Man Outings". Lucky enjoyed taking his son and nephews on camping trips too. He created fun memories that will never be forgotten.
In the early 1980s, Lucky and Patsy built a beach cabin at Crystal Beach and spent many happy times there. They loved traveling, gardening, boating, and spending time with family.
Lucky was preceded in death and reunited in Heaven with Patsy Acker, beloved wife of 50 years, parents, Ready and Stella Acker, and his sisters, Leona Leonard and Juanita Ramsey.
Lucky is survived by his sister, Betty Acker Latorre and brother, Frank Acker. Daughter, Belinda Parker and husband David Parker, grandson Andrew Kuhl, his wife Brittany Kuhl, and great granddaughter Eliza Patsy. Daughter, Cynthia Griffin and her husband Carl Griffin, grandsons, Derron Griffin and wife, Patricia, Michael Griffin and wife, Toula, Sam Griffin and wife, Jeremy, great grandchildren, Elise, Deron, Zoe, Grace, Penelope, Jacob, and Olivia. Son, David Acker and wife, Betty Gingold Acker, granddaughters, Emily Acker and Sarah Acker. And his new family, beloved wife, Teresita B. Acker, mother-in-law, Marjorie Barrera, children, Jeremy Wheat and wife Megan, Shane Nutter, Kaley Scott, grandchildren, Kyndol, Kaide, Kelie, Avery, Emmalyn, Lana and Maddox.
A Memorial Service will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home on December 9, 2022 at 1:00pm.
Lucky will be missed but never forgotten. His traits of goodness live on in the lives of his descendants.
