Linda Carol Thornton, age 76, of Katy, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023. She was born on February 9th, 1947 in Port Neches, Texas to her parents, Mary Francis Denton Thornton and Jack Louis Thornton, Sr. She was the eldest of five children, with two sisters and two brothers. She was also the eldest grandchild of her mother's parents. Her mother, Mary, was the eldest of eleven children.
Linda resided with her family in Groves, Texas. She graduated from PN-G, Class of 65, and attended Lamar University. She moved to Houston, Texas and was in the computer processing business for years. She later started a career with the City of Houston, moving to Katy, Texas, in Neighborhood and Urban Development, where she worked until her retirement.
Linda was a light hearted and fun soul. She loved her siblings, nieces, and nephews. She was not blessed with children, but loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She spent lots of time with them, sharing lots of adventures.
Linda was an avid reader and loved all kinds of book, (some just because they were books!). She loved history of all kinds, and enjoyed travel books and magazines such as National Geographic. She also enjoyed television programs about travel. She was a very interesting person and knew all types of trivia and fun facts. She also loved old movies, the older the better.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Her sister Cindy, and sister-in-laws Ellen and Jeanette.
She is survived by her brothers, Jack and Michael, her sister Francis and husband Jimmy, nine nieces and nephews and their spouses, and ten great nieces and nephews. She also has numerous cousins, second cousins, and third cousins.
A Gathering of Friends and Family for Linda will be held Friday, April 7, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703, followed by a Celebration of Linda's Life at 2:00 PM.
Linda will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, TX 77703-1223.
