Lillian Lucille Thomas, 90, longtime resident of Lumberton, Texas, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025. She was born on May 21, 1934, in Bosqueville, Texas, to the late Herbert Broox Hill and Mary Modene (Gregory) Hill.
Lillian was known for her caring nature and her dedication to others. She spent many years as an in-home babysitter, where she lovingly cared for numerous children. As a devoted “Band Grandma” for the Lumberton High School Raider Band, Lillian found great joy in attending her grandchildren’s band performances and concerts and baking cookies for the band members. A little firecracker in spirit, she had a knack for spreading joy wherever she went.
She was deeply fond of her two cats, Willie and Waylon, and canine companion Jersey. Even at 90 years old, she maintained her independence, still driving and shopping daily. Lillian was always there for anyone in need, offering a helping hand whenever she could. She also enjoyed sewing and volunteering for various organizations throughout her life.
Lillian is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert "Bob" Herschell Thomas; her son, Mark Thomas; daughter, Sheralynne Thomas, her brothers, Herb Hill, Bobby Hill, and Bill Hill; and her granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Farmer.
She is survived by her children, Jay Thomas, Jennifer Cato and husband Michael; her grandchildren, Michael Thomas, Rebecca Cato, and Anthony Cato; three great-grandchildren; as well as three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Young; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.
Lillian’s legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A visitation for Lillian will be held Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703. A Celebration of Life will occur Friday, March 28, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703.
