Lillian Ruby Gast, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully departed on September 6, 2023. Born on August 10, 1938, she leaves an enduring mark in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Lillian possessed remarkable warmth and generosity, earning her the title of having "the biggest heart in Texas". Her love knew no bounds, touching countless lives with her kind and giving nature.
Lillian had a zest for life that was truly infectious. She had two great passions: shopping and gambling. Whether she was scouring the stores for the perfect find or trying her luck at the casino, Lillian approached these activities with a twinkle in her eye and a contagious enthusiasm. Her spirit for adventure and fun was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Beyond her hobbies, Lillian was known for her direct and straightforward personality. She was a woman who never minced words and was always honest and forthright. Her authenticity was a refreshing quality that endeared her to many. Lillian was the type of person who said what she meant and meant what she said, a trait that earned her the respect and admiration of those around her.
Lillian was preceded in death by her father Leon McKinnley Emmons and her mother Bessie Mae Emmons; her son Richard Orville Gast III and her daughter Lisa Renée Gassiott; her brother Bobby Ray Franklin and her sister Evelyn Joy Carlin.
Lillian is survived by her husband, Richard Orville Gast, Jr.; her son Jack Edward Burnett, Jr., and stepson John Richard Gast (Margaret); her daughters Pamela Sue Anderson, Carla Kay Prescott (Jonathan), and Rhonda Lynn Pate (Ronny); and by her sisters Virginia Smith and Irma Emmons Passmore. Lillian will also be lovingly remembered by many grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Sunday, September 10, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 am on Monday, September 11, 2023, at the same location. Lillian will be laid to rest in the serene Tranquility Garden at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Lillian Ruby Gast will be remembered for her love, laughter, and larger-than-life spirit. Though she is no longer with us, her memory will forever shine in our hearts.
