It is with great sadness that the family of John Reagan Liddell announce his passing on June 14, 2022. John was born in Beaumont, Texas on September 18, 1940, and spent most of his life in the Golden Triangle before moving to Katy, Texas in 2012 to be closer to his family.
After finishing school, John spent time working in the Beaumont area and ultimately retired from Jefferson County Restitution Center where he worked as a Counselor.
John had a deep faith and adoration for our Lord Jesus Christ. He was a longtime member of Robert’s Avenue United Methodist Church in Beaumont, Texas and eventually graduated from Lon Morris College and become pastor of Sabine Pass Methodist Church.
John’s love has always been for music. Over the years, he assembled his library of 30’s & 40’s Big Band Swing music as well as Jazz, Classical, and Country & Western favorites. He was also very fond of movies of every kind, but particularly musicals and westerns – especially those starring his childhood heroes Roy Rogers and The Lone Ranger. John also enjoyed reading books about Texas History and the writings of Mark Twain.
After moving to Katy, Texas, John made many wonderful and loving friends while living at the Mason Senior Apartments and Watercrest at Katy. It was at Watercrest where he and his grandson would spend time playing pool. John taught him how to break and sink shots in the corner pocket. He also loved entertaining and put on several one man shows for his friends at Watercrest, reciting Mark Twain.
