Jerry Philip Herrera, 71, a lifelong resident of Beaumont passed away on Monday October 26, 2015 at his home in Fred. Jerry was born on August 1, 1944 to his parents Joe Herrera, Sr. and Emilia Dominguez Herrera who preceded him in death. He was a Army veteran that served in the Vietnam War, 4th Infantry Division with a rank of E-4. Jerry was self-employed and owned Jerry Herrera Paint and Body Shop for forty years. He was a Christian and attended Praise Christian Center. He loved all phases of dealing with old classic cars, restoring them and doing the necessary collision repairs. Jerry was known to many as a cookie monster and also took a lot of pride in getting together with people to compete in Bar B Que competitions. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and watched any type of car auction programs on television.
Surviving Jerry are his wife Norma Herrera of Fred, son, David Herrera and wife Rachel of Houston, daughters, Gina Herrera-Castaneda and husband Tobias of Arlington, Texas, Sofia Herrera of Beaumont, step-son, Eric Wisdom and wife Lacie of Lumberton, step-daughter Melissa Horn and husband Chris of Lumberton, brother, Joe Herrera, Jr. and wife Janice of Vidor, sister, Toni Herrera of Christiansburg, Virginia, and nine grandchildren, Darby Gore and husband Wesley, Brianne Horn, Tyler Wisdom, Dawson Wisdom, Colby Horn, Cristian Castaneda, Jerry Castaneda, Mia Herrera, and Cameron Herrera.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 28, 2015 from 6:00P.M.-8:30 P.M. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 29, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. in the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont officiated by Rev. Steve O’Donohoe and Chaplain Mike Eaves.
