Debbie Lynn, Mike, Lief and Jason;
I met your Mother after I started going with her brother, Melvin. We used to go over to her home and eat and visit, before we were married. Cheap DATE. I would play with Debbie and Mike. Lief was on the way. 
One time we helped Helen paint her living room. I went over there in a Tank Top and Short Shorts. I don't think she liked that very much, but remember I was only 18.
Helen was my Matron of Honor, as we had grown close, and Lonnie was Best Man, with Debbie Lynn as my Flower Girl, at our Wedding 12/31/55. I made Debbie's dress, as I loved to sew. It was Green Velvet.
We had many fun times at their homes, in Houston, Nome and finally Lumberton. I will greatly miss her. She was a fabulous cook, even when she left the Chicken out of the Chicken Cacciatore, and everyone raved about how good it was. She took after her Mother when it came to cooking.

Niece and Nephews: Words can not really tell how much my dear sister, Helen, was a big part of my life and yours.
Since we had 6 boys and 1 girl, Helen, she was more than a sister. She had to help out with alll the boys. Helen took me with her on many occassions to be with her friends, boys and girls. The reason was, I would ask her if I could go and she would give me that look and say, come on. I know now, many times she wanted to say no, but in her heart she loved me and couldn't stand to see me looking sad, when she did say no.
Helen dropped out of High School, as she and her girl friends had to walk about 2 miles to school and in the winter in Illinois the snow would get 8-10" deep, with temperatures near zero or below.
With 6 boys and 1 girl, we had to sleep in 2 bedrooms upstairs, no heat. So as I always would say," I would sleep closer to my sister than I do my wife". Remember that I was 4 or 5 and she was 15 or 16. 11 years older.
Helen went to work for a Doctor and his family, cleaning, cooking, taking care of their small child for about $3.50 per week, with Sundays off. She then went to work for the A&P store as a cashier.
She met Lonnie at a night club and after a week they were married,  The wedding took place at our home.  I still tagged along with them at times, not too Lonnies liking. 
While I was in the service in Korea, she always found time to write me.  When I returned, I would always stop by her home and we could reminise about the old days.
I have and always will love my sister, Helen. She was like a second mother. I could go on and on. God Bless her, your uncle Melvin.

Dear Cousins Lynn, Mike, Lief, Jason,  Aunt Helen was a remarkable woman. I remember fondly our visits to y'all's house when we were kids. I would wake up in the morning and come into the kitchen to find her cooking breakfast. She was always a joy to be around. Her and Uncle Lonnie are always in my thoughts and prayers.

Mike, Lynn, Jason, Lief. I know losing a parent is really hard. We both know. I know she is with your Dad and they are both Happy now. May God bless your family.

Lynn and Family, words cannot express my heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your Mother. I know all too well, the pain of losing a Mom. While I only met your Mom once, I know she raised an amazing, wonderful, loving daughter, you. It will take a long time to begin to recover from your sadness and pain. Lynn,  I know it was very difficult with the loss of your Mother.  I have heard on TV before where spouses pass away on the same day many, many years apart.  I guess that’s the day where they feel close to their spouse and at the most peace!  I know it can’t be easy for you, but I hope you have many wonderful memories of your Mother that you’re able to treasure.

Lynn, I’m so sorry to hear of your Mom’s death.  No matter what the circumstance, it’s never easy; but it’s not easy when they are in a long term facility either. I hope you find that just knowing she made this journey and will no longer suffer the pains of this life is a comforting thought.   I hope you will find comfort in knowing your friends are praying for you and your family and that your mom is at peace.

I heard of your recent loss and wanted to reach out to you to let you know you are in our prayers. Your Mom had to be a wonderful person to influence such a wonderful person as yourself. She is in a better place smiling down on you each day. I know losing a parent is hard. If Evelyn or I can do anything for you please let us know.

Lynn, I am so sorry for the loss of your mother.  I am thinking of you and your family during this difficult time.

It has been a great privilege to have been a part of Helen's life for almost 40 years. She was my first employer and my mother in law. I only refer to her as Gamee now.  She made such an impression on me that when I became a grandmother I asked to use her name.  Through the years she has taught me life lessons on being a good mother, wife, grandmother and child of God.  Thank you Gamee for your love and lessons.  You will be missed terribly.
