Gertrude Virginia Riley, age 94 passed away August 14, 2012, in Beaumont. She was born October 10, 1917 in Toledo, Ohio to Fred and Pansy Lanham. She was a homemaker for most of her life, and loved to whistle while she worked. She loved her family dearly, spending time with children, gardening and dancing. She loved going to church and was a member of the Rosedale Baptist Church. She was very active in her Seniors Triple A Club at her church also. She will truly be deeply missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Pansy Lanham, her husband, Charles Riley, one son Charles E. “Buck” Riley, two grandsons, John Horne Jr. and Larry Robinson Jr., two sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann Horne and husband John of Beaumont, Jane Marie Gilbert and husband Russell of Sugarland, and Betty Lou Robinson and husband Larry of Grand Prairie, she is also survived by five grandchildren, Mary Alexander, Tony Gilbert, Theresa Murphy, Donna Robinson and Tommy Robinson, also five great-grandchildren, Gregory Alexander, Ashley Gilbert, Makenzie Murphy, Donald Clark III, and Charles Robinson.
A gathering of family and friends will begin on Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin on Friday, August 17, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
