Francis W Fontenot, age 97, of Anahuac, Texas passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. Francis was born in Evangeline Oilfields, Louisiana, and at 5 years old his family moved to Winnie and then moved to Anahuac and has lived there since 1959. Francis was a retired rice farmer and cattleman. Francis enjoyed playing his harmonica, going fishing, traveling, gambling, and especially enjoyed dancing, he also enjoyed flying his own plane with his wife and family. Francis was a longtime member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Winnie.
A Celebration of Francis's Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Winnie, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Winnie, all under the direction of Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont. A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
Francis is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Marshall and her husband Johnny of Conroe, TX., Susan Fielder and her husband Ricky of Woodville, Peggy Neville and her husband Jim of Anahuac, Frances Kotz and her husband Darrell of Winnie, Linda Torango and her husband George of Spring, Paula Harper and her husband Larry of Winnie,and Johanna McBride of Huffman, and his son Francis Warren Fontenot, Jr. and his wife Melba of Winnie, twelve grandchildren, and his numerous great grandchildren.
Francis was preceded in death by his wife Gertrude Marie Fontenot; his parents, Lawrence Fontenot and Lottie Broussard Fontenot; and his sister Juanita Nunez.
Francis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
