Era Theresa Martin Romero was born in Bayou Goula, Louisiana on April 6, 1925 to George E. Martin and Mary Ann Babin Martin.
She grew up and went to school in White Castle and Westwego, Louisiana . Era met Louis Romero in 1942 and married him in 1943 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Westwego, La. In 1944 Louis and Era started their family with the birth of son Fred Romero in New Orleans, La., her daughter Betty Romero was born in New Orleans, La. In 1947 the family relocated to Beaumont, Tx. where they made their permanent residence. Their son William (Bill) Romero was born in Beaumont, Tx.
Era was a lady of tremendous faith and loved her rosary and the Blessed Mother. Era was often referred to as a prayer warrior, she certainly filled that role in our family. She was always willing to share her wisdom, faith and love with family and friends. Era greatest joy was family, friends and her wonderful cats, Blossom, Lily and Poo. Era was a seamstress, and enjoyed sewing, walking, gardening and years of service with the Catholic daughters.
Era is preceded in death by her late husband of 45 years Louis G. Romero Jr. of Beaumont, Tx., parents, George E. Martin and Mary Ann Babin Martin of Westwego, La, Sisters Ruth Martin LeGlue, of Westwego, La., Joyce Martin Brown, of Port Allen, La., Nona Martin Romero, of Bridge City, La., Doris Martin St. Pierre, of Bridge City, La., Isma Martin, of Westwego, La., Margret Martin Bergeron, of New Orleans, La., brother Milton Martin, of Bayou Gauche, La., granddaughter Cindy Ramsey of Vidor, Tx. and 14 nieces and nephews and many friends.
Era is survived by her children Fred Romero, (Jackie) of Gonzales, La., Betty Romero Ioannoglou, (Minas) of Beaumont, Tx., William (Bill) Romero, (Sharon) of Vidor, Tx., grand children Troy Romero, (Karen) of Hammond, La., John Romero, (Stephanie) of Montgomery, Tx., Holly Romero Carey of Vidor, Tx. Lesley Romero Ducre, (Israel) of LaCombe La., great grandchildren Zachary Romero of Boulder, Co., Reid Romero of Woodlands,Tx., Tyler Romero, (Ann) of Spring, Tx., Jesse Romero Juhas of LaCombe, La., Eva Juhas of LaCombe, La., Elise Juhas of LaCombe, La., Jacob Romero of Hammond, La., Noah Carey of Beaumont, Tx., Jonathon Cerda of Montgomery, Tx., Josh Cerda of Montgomery, Tx., Hailey Cerda of Montgomery, Tx. and great great grandchild Jesse J. Juhas of LaCombe, La. 15 nieces and nephews.
