Dottye M. Lemke, 94, of Beaumont, Texas died Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in Beaumont. Born in Temple, TX., her family eventually settled in Beaumont, where she graduated from high school and met her husband Don. Dottye and Don moved to Nederland, TX in 1956 where they became members of First Baptist Church of Nederland, Texas. Dottye also, spent many weekends, holidays and retirement years at the family’s fishing camp on Saline Lake in Winnfield, Louisiana. During these times she was also active at Lakeside Baptist Church of Winnfield.
Dottye enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved to talk and share all her stories of all her memories. Dottye loved being a wife and mother. She was a wonderful cook and always the most gracious hostess. She was always ready with a snack or dessert for anyone who stopped by. Dottye always enjoyed playing all sorts of games. She played Bridge and Spades as much as possible and the game of Trouble with all the little ones and she seldom missed a Bingo game at Collier Park. With her husband Don, Dottye loved to fish (when they were biting) and working in their garden of flowers and vegetables. She loved the beauty of nature and all of God’s creations.
A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont.
A Graveside Celebration of Life service will begin after, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont.
Dottye was preceded in death by her loving husband Don N. Lemke, Sr., son Don N. Lemke, Jr., and her parents, Ira Lee and Eula Johnson, Sr. and her brothers-in-law Dr. Eugene Nini, Bill Lemke, and Richard Lemke.
Dottye is survived by her daughter, Dina DeLea Lemke of Cozumel, Mexico, brother, Ira L. Johnson, Jr. and his wife Mary Helen of Beaumont, sister, Loyce "Dinkey" Nini of Frisco, TX., her daughter-in-law Teresa Lemke, one grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
A special Thank You to her caregiver Barbara Scott who loved and cared for Dottye for the past two years.
