Don Estes Townsend

Don Estes Townsend, 78, of Village Mills, passed away on March 24, 2019 in Silsbee. Don was born on August 25, 1940, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is preceeded in death by his parents Estes and Juanita Townsend and his brother Wayne Townsend.

Don was a devoted teacher, teaching English and Social Studies for 50 years. He concluded his career in Vidor, where he taught for over 35 years at Vidor High School, AIM Center and in Homebound Education. Don was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church, where he faithfully taught an adult Sunday School class for a number of years. He loved his family & his Lord with a tender & loyal devotion. He will always be remembered for his kind & gentle ways, his ability to listen & encourage, his keen sense of observation & genuine interest in others.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Townsend; daughters, Celeste Rogers and husband Rev. Neil of Midland, Camille Landis and husband Rev. Aaron of Granbury, Charlotte Hunt and husband John of Dallas, Julia Townsend of Houston, Oxana Childs and husband Chris of Beaumont; Stepsons, Andres Villarreal and wife Lori of Lubbock, Jose Villarreal and wife Tonya of Lufkin, and Elias Villarreal and wife Taryn of Cypress; and grandchildren Charity, Nathan, Colin, Gretchen, Jocelyn, Louis, Anders, Georgia, Andres III, Alexandrea, Jose Jr., Jessica, Andy, Svetlana, Alyson Childs, Kaleb Childs, Jayden, and Alina.

A sharing of Don's life will be held Wednesday March 27, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday March 28, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
