David Eugene Merriman, 69, of Lumberton, Texas passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital. Mr. Merriman was born May 4, 1941, in Port Arthur, Texas to Carl & Emma Lee Merriman. He has lived in Lumberton since 1991, and was a member of Infant Jesus Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the YMBL. Mr. Merriman was also an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Era.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille “Cookie” Merriman of Lumberton; sons, Roy Shane Merriman of Nederland, Luther T. Merriman of Nederland and Bevan Wayne Merriman of Lumberton; daughters, Rene Jackson of East Hampton, Connecticut, Debora Busbey of Silsbee and Elda D. Merriman of Nederland; sister, Elizabeth “Tootie” Ramsey of Orange; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, from 5 p.m., until 8 p.m., and Thursday, July 22, 2010, 9 a.m., until 12 p.m., at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at 2 p.m., at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with cremation to follow.
