Charles E. Cochran, age 87, of Lumberton, TX, passed away on September 6, 2024. He was born in Roganville, TX to Burnett and Lois Cochran. He graduated from Beaumont High School and then attended Lamar University. Charles worked for Jefferson County, TX in various roles and retired in 1996 as Superintendent of Drainage District No. 6. He was married to the love of his life Bobbye Jean McMinn for 68 years.
Charles had a deep love for reading, with a particular passion for history and classic Western literature. He loved fishing, photography, archery, and birds. He was an avid gun and knife collector. Most of all he loved his family.
He is survived by his wife Bobbye Cochran; children: Tommy Cochran, Brenda Olson (Carl), Danna Wyble (Rick) and Chuck Cochran (Kim). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Kristen Daniels (Paul), Lauren Smith (Reggie), Andy Olson, Emily Hooten (Lane), Garrett Cochran, Hayley Wyble, and Charlie Cochran; and great grandchildren: Annelise, Adelynn, Ava, and Reg.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Vicki, his parents Burnett and Lois Cochran, his brother Jimmy Cochran, and his sister Nancy Groat.
The family would like to thank Compassion Hospice for all the care and support this past year. Especially his angels Paula, Holly, Gwynn, Joanna, Kim, Jackie, and Brother Pitre. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association (Diabetes.org) and Dementia Society of America (Dementiasociety.org/donate).
A celebration of life for Charles will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703. An informal gathering will take place prior to the service.
