Carl Dillon, 96, of Beaumont passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Carl was born on March 9, 1918, in Corsicana, Texas, to Henry L. Dillon, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth McMullen Dillon. He served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy as a naval aviator. Carl received a Master’s degree in education from Stephen F. Austin University. He was a math teacher and coached golf and tennis throughout his teaching career in the Beaumont school systems. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening and excelled at both.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Olive Dillon; his parents; his sisters, Ethel Dillon and Mary Dillon Powers; and his brothers, Cecil Dillon, Ray Dillon, Henry Dillon, and Wayne Dillon.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Dee McMinn and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church of Beaumont or the American Legion.
