Bonnie Lois aka "Big B" Etie, 75, of Beaumont, died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 29, 2021. A lifelong resident of Beaumont and Lumberton, Bonnie attended French Elementary School and James Bowie Junior High School. She graduated from French High School in 1964. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Lamar University in 1968. She taught and coached in Vidor, Beaumont, and West Orange Stark, where she retired in 1998.
Bonnie played the tuba in the French HS band. She was a member of the Tennis Team, Spanish Club, and attended Girls State. She was voted "Most Crazy" during her senior year.
Bonnie was a beloved sister, aunt, friend and coach. Although she had no children of her own, her nieces and nephews and her students were all "Her Kids". Bonnie enjoyed teaching, coaching and thought of all her students as her own. Big B was the glue that held her family together. She was always there for birthdays, weddings and celebrations. She made everyone she met feel like the most important person in the world. Everyone needs an Aunt Bonnie, Big B or Coach Etie in their life.
Bonnie was very faithful. She loved Jesus, read her Bible and prayed for her friends and family every day. She loved Texas and her country. She enjoyed traveling the USA.
Bonnie was a proud member of the Silver Sneakers at World Gym and enjoyed eating out with her gym buddies.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. until service time on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the funeral home.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Myrtle Etie, and her partner, Dusty Cheryl Roberts.
Bonnie is survived by her brother, Jack Richard Etie and his wife Louise of Beaumont, sisters, Debra Walker and her husband Thomas of Beaumont, Betty Jo DuPriest of Winnie, and Charlotte Morgan and her husband Randy of Silsbee, ten nieces and nephews, twenty-five great nieces and nephews, six great-great nieces and nephews, and an abundance of friends.
