Mrs. Richard was born and raised in Rison, Arkansas. She and her small child came to Beaumont to visit her sister after the death of her first husband, Johnny J. Williams. She bought a house and remained in Beaumont. She met Leland Richard and they were married in 1950. They were married 53 years at the time of his death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Zelma and Herman Davis; granddaughter, Lisa Williams; two sisters, Varnice Hebert Wooley and Joyce Moore; niece, Kay Hebert Lewis and two brothers-in-law, Ralph Wooley and R.L. Moore.
Mrs. Richard is survived by her son, Johnny D. Williams of Lumberton; grandson, Jeffrey Williams; daughter-in-law, Amy Williams of Round Rock, Texas and two nieces and one nephew.
Mrs. Richard was a very special person. She was extremely loving, caring and brave. She showed incredible strength of character living with muscular dystrophy most of her life.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010, from 5 p.m., until 8 p.m., at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. A chapel service will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2010, at 2 p.m., at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Burton officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Devotion at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
