Bobbie grew up in Jayess, MS then moved to Lumberton, TX where he met and married his wife Dorothy. Together they raised four children, Bobby, Gary, Fairley, and Gwynn. Bobbie worked as a carpenter for Market Basket, retiring after 35 years. He is remembered as a hard worker with a sweet and friendly attitude to all that knew him. Bobbie was an avid deer hunter and took any chance he got to spend time outdoors. He was an avid fan of Elvis and loved listening to his music. But Bobbie found his greatest joy in being a grandfather. He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory.
Bobbie is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dorothy Cothern; his son Bobby Cothern; and his siblings, Katherine Anderson, Gene Roberts, Josephine Cothern, Doyle Cothern, Marlon Cothern, and Willie Ann Lang.
Bobbie is survived by his brother Crossie Cothern; daughter Gwynn Nash; son Gary Cothern and wife Carol; son Fairley and wife Peggy; grandchildren, Tina Moss, Sarah Cothern, Kayla Best, and Bobby Nash; and four great-grandchildren, Emily Moss, Alyison Moss, Juliet Best, and Ellora Best.
A Gathering of Family and Friends for Bobbie will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Friday, February 12, 2012 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. A Celebration of Bobbie's Life will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 10AM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, with a committal service to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Assurance.
