Valerie Ann Babinski, 38, of Arcadia, California passed away in the early morning of Wednesday, August 19 at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California surrounded by family. She is survived by her young sons, Noah Manlic, 10, and Colin Manlic, 8; her mother, Sheila Babinski; her father, James Babinski; her sisters, Melanie Davis and Laurie Babinski; her grandmother, Esther Babinski; and multitudes of other family and friends.
Valerie was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend who fought a nearly year-long battle with glioblastoma, one she was determined to win even in the end. She was born on May 29, 1977 in Cudahy, Wisconsin. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California Riverside and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California. She was a competitive diver during high school and, in later years, an avid runner, swimmer and biker. She enjoyed spending time with her friends while training for races, watching football and baseball, and relaxing at the river. She also served on the board of her sons’ little league.
Valerie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, George and Lorraine Hackett, and her paternal grandfather, Edwin Babinski.
A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. and funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2015 at Weaver Mortuary in Beaumont, California. Interment at Desert Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Calimesa, California will follow the service.
