8/13/2016... It is Friday the 13th on this anniversary day..
 Big day for  very superstitious people.. Which I felt our family was.
I feel I got all my superstitions from Grandma Nadine and you..
60th Anniversary of the Knoxville Nationals are going on right now .....  Bringing back many memories too..
 Five years have gone by since you have been gone..  Sometimes it seems it was so long ago and other times it seems like yesterday..   I still miss you every single day.  And I think about you every single day.  You are often in our conversations..  With some little anecdotes and memories of you,  that we share with each other.

We are still dealing with the Pandemic and all the fallout from it.. 
Things are not completely back to normal..  All of us are well at this time.. Except Tessa, who was found to have breast cancer.
I wanted you to know I am thinking of you on this anniversary day..  I love you Mom!  And miss you so much..  Terri

4 Years today Mom....Sometimes it seems so fast and other times it seems long ago..  Thinking a lot today about your last day.. Very painful day for all of us.   I miss you every single day and really wish I could talk to you.. Life has changed dramatically..  We are in a pandemic and nothing is as it used to be..  I think we all just want 2020 to be over.  Family all seems to be doing ok.  Tracy will share with you sometime,  the difficulties she and Bob are facing..  New babies in the family,  Charlie with Nathan and Cory and a couple of weeks later, Paige with Amber and her husband.   They both just turned one.  Ky and Melissa have moved farther away and I miss them being close.  Dad is doing well..  Staying busy which is very good.  Right now I am in "one day at a time"  Things will get better, they have to..  I miss you so much..  All my love, Terri

Hi mom,
Today is 4 years since you have been gone. Hope heaven is treating you well and you are keeping Moose close along with your parents and friends who are up there. I think about you all the time. I tried to send you a message some months ago, but it didn't get to you. I miss you terribly. I could really talk to you right now. Life has thrown some really horrific things my and Bob's way. We are walking through it one day at a time, but I am pretty messed up right now in the head and struggling. Daddy is doing well. Still alive and in decent health. I talk to him almost daily, but it is not always the same as talking to you used to be. We got this COVID fake pandemic thing going on across the US and it is really a whole different world now in just 4 short years. You would hate it. 

Know I love you very much mom and miss you dearly. Someday I will write and tell you all about me and Bob (Yes we are together, it is not that LOL),  but today I just want to remember you!!!

Mom...  I miss you.  We are at 2 years now.  Seems a long time ago.  And yet like it was yesterday.  I think of you daily.  I have many 
memories surrounding me here.  I miss talking to you..  I miss visiting with you..  Seeing you.  So many memories right now of your last few weeks.    I try not to dwell on those and remember so many of the good memories. The family is doing well.  Tracy and Bob still in Arizona.  Scott and Melanie have remodeled their home.  Kyle and Melissa  bought a townhome.  Nathan and Cory bought a house.   Beth is moving up the ladder at work.  Low point of the year was Amber losing her baby.  She and John are still recovering from it.
And your 3 kids?  We are all still working hard.  Loving our jobs....  ???  Not...    And Dad..  He is doing well.  One year after his successful colon cancer surgery.  He is getting out of the house and staying busy with friends.  We did lose Linda in May but we think she is there with you in heaven... We think  you are both  doing well and enjoying each others company.   You are missed Mom...  By so many...

Happy birthday Grammy! Well another year has gone by and the hole in my heart is still there without you. I just wanted you to know you're going to be a great grandma in June, I wish you could be here because I know you'd be over the moon with a new baby coming. Looks like I'll have to make her a blanket myself, and that's ok because it'll really be from you. The family is good, Popo is doing good, just stubborn about getting a new phone, you know how he can be haha. Christmas isnt the same, birthdays aren't the same, hell nothing is the same since you left us, but I know you're not in pain and you're not having to fight to breathe anymore and that is what brings me comfort. I love you more and more each day and hope you are out there looking down on all of us and smiling because we look up with tears in our eyes and miss you. So have a good birthday, eat lots of cake and know we all love you!

Merry Christmas Mom.. Happy Birthday to you too..  77 years..  Time seems to be flying by.  We are all a little scattered around this Christmastime.  And that is OK.  Everyone is well.  And there is a new great grandbaby on the way in Florida.  A little girl.  I know you would be so excited for a new baby on the way. You would definitely be making baby blankets and buying many gifts for her... We all miss you everyday. I think of you everyday.  And have my conversations with you. Nathan has a new tattoo that honors you and I know you would be so proud of it and think it was very cool... Hey Grammy! I know I haven't written in awhile, I just don't know what to say sometimes. Today I woke up and had a notification on my phone. It was a Facebook memory and it was the first selfie I ever took with you when I visited in 2014. I look back and wish I would have hugged you more or made you laugh harder. That was a good visit, we talked about a lot of stuff and even talked about having this moment when you were gone. I will hold that picture and memory, just like all the others, in my heart until my last breath. This never gets easier and I don't want it to. You deserve to never be forgotten. I love you and miss you each breath I take.

Happy Mother's Day to the best Mom ever!  It's been hard on this first Mother's Day.  Hard to see all the advertising..  cards.. gifts.. people talking about what they're doing with their Mom on Sunday...  I do have all my wonderful memories of Mother's Days past with you.   and I plan on visiting with you sometime over the weekend.  Time seems to be flying by most of the time - at least for me - maybe not for others.  I am healthy right now and so grateful for that.  I think of you every day and talk to you often.. Dear Aunt Nancy, 
It breaks our hearts to see thismy brother and I have been looking for you and uncle Bob for quite some time now. The last time we talked not long after our mom's funeral when you told me you had moved and I wrote that information down, however in the middle of a remodel that paper went missing and I was freaking trying to find itso I went on with a search of the internet which my computer skills were not real great;(  I didn't know where to look as I always knew growing up you had lived in the Chino Hills area. 
My brother Jeff called me yesterday and told me he had found you  I was like really with excitement, however his paus and then the tone I knew it was not how we wanted things to go. I so wish we had not lost connection and could have spent some time with you and the family!  As I talked with my brother last night we shared our memories and as we talked about you, mom and grandma I found myself smiling and laughing at the stories. My brother had more stories and memories with the time spent with you as a boy then I, but we both had the same feelings about the love and warmth you gave! And that smile would and could light up any room!
 Please know dear Aunt Nancy my brother and I are doing well on this journey called life... As we get older we value times spent together and realize how short our time is here on earth!!  We are going to reach out to the family although wishing you were still here!! Please say hi to everyone as we miss you all very much!! I sure can hear you all laughing and catching up!!

make it. Jimmy Johnson won his 7th championship. I miss you very much. The house is very empty. Little did I know how much I depended on you. I took you for granted. You were someone to talk to, someone to offer guidance on issues, someone to bounce Ideas off of. someone to argue with and not always win,  someone to help solve problems in our life. Hi Mommy,

Well you've been gone a little over three months mom and sometimes I cannot believe you are no longer here. I am still unable to walk on my right foot. My surgery went well and I finally got the last cast off November 17th. Daddy was here visiting again and he went to the doctor with us and got to see me stand up for the first time since July 20th. I cried. I feel like I have been in suspended motion ever since I fell and fractured my ankle. That day my world looked as if it was being put on hold. Then 24 days later my world just fell apart. Everyone has had to move forward getting back to work and doing life, but I don't think you leaving us will really hit me till I get back to work and have to start doing life myself. It's a very bad spot to be in.
I look at your pictures all the time. You had such a wonderful life with daddy. He and I talk often about all the things the two of you did and places you went. You were so blessed to have found someone who loved you so much. You and daddy raised us kids well. You were always there for us, no matter what we did or said especially you mom, you were the rock of our family, the one with the voice of constant encouragement and the love of dad's life. I have visited you at the cemetery when I have been in CA and will come see you every time I go to CA. Soon there will be grass all around you and you will finally be looking pretty. Of course never as pretty as if your smiling face was still here. 
Thanksgiving was last week and I didn't make it to your house. Bob had to work. You got to love the retail business, all about the dollar and not the family. Plus I started physical therapy. All the rest of the family was there with dad except Amber and John; they went to Colorado to visit friends. Daddy said it was nice, but I know it was not the same for any of them. Thanksgiving will never be the same without you. None of the holidays will ever be the same without you. I was very sick Friday night and through the weekend after Thanksgiving.  It was horrible. I guess that my new thing is being sick at the important holidays. No one knows right now how Christmas will be. I may be back to work by then, but we plan to go to your house to be with dad and everyone that weekend and at least stay till your birthday. Amber is having guests at her house so I will send gifts to her and John. A part of me just wants to erase Christmas and the two weeks after so everyone, especially daddy does not have to feel the intensified feelings of loss and emptiness as we go through Christmas, your birthday, dad's birthday, Terri's birthday and you and daddy's wedding anniversary for the first time without you here. 
You leaving us has affected everyone differently.  I try to always talk about you when I talk to daddy, I know he is hurting so bad and other than talk about you, I don't know what else to do to help him feel better, feel wanted, feel loved, feel all the things he felt when you were alive and with him. So I just try to talk about you often. The rest of the family is hurting as well, but I think they have a hard time talking about it. As you know, you were the one I would talk to about my feelings and what was happening in my life. Please know how much I miss our talks and how much you are missed by me and the rest of our family. We will all continue to look out for daddy and make sure he does not give up on life. I will come see you at Christmas. Maybe I will actually be able to walk by then. In time, I guess the numbness I feel will go away and I will actually grieve, but for now life just feels empty. I know you would want all of us kids to go forward and be happy, that is all you ever wanted for us kids is to be happy in our lives. Please know you are missed terribly and thought about daily. Thank you for giving me so many wonderful memories, loving me for who I am and being my mother. Until we talk again, I love you mom, always.

Hey Grandma, Im beyond blessed to have the honor of being the granddaughter of such a strong, beautiful, and inspiring women. You taught me that no matter what to stick to your beliefs and be proud of those beliefs. Much like the sun you radiated warmth wherever you were, which in turn showed me how to shine like a star in the night sky. With a heart so full of love for each and every family member or stranger on one of our many road trips you defined the word Compassion for me. I thank you so very much for every single memory or moment spent together. All the times you sat up at night reading Mother Goose stories to me, waking in the morning to a peppy and bright " Good Morning Sunshine", and every moment in-between. I Love and miss you with everything I have!

I wasn't  born into the Duvall family but when I was introduced you made me feel like I had been.  Right away giving me a tour of your museum of a house. 
      That house amazed me and even inspired my 1st tattoo. I'll always remember the summers hanging out at that house eating and eating and eating. Bacon, toast and eggs with a pound of cheese in them every morning. Ham sandwich and chips and salsa for lunch and a countless number of snacks. Then we mixed in a little judge Judy and news in the afternoon before Beth and I were picked up.
      Even when we were older and Beth and I would come spend the week with you, you would make sure we had our favorites at least one of the nights. I would request spaghetti with your amazing garlic bread and Beth would ask for the mac and cheese.
       Anytime I saw you you would always compliment me and make me feel amazing. You even complimented and said you loved all the tattoos. I still haven't heard any other grandma say a tattoo is beautiful, and I doubt I will.
       Thank you for making me always feel like a part of the Duvall family, the countless meals and the double chin that came with it, the laughs,compliments and all the love you have to me and the rest of the family.

Hey pretty lady! Yesterday was thanksgiving and well, it was the hardest thing not being able to call you and talk to you.  My earliest memories were of the whole family gathered at the table for thanksgiving. I learned how to cook because you used to sit me up on the counter and have me help make turkey dinner. Now that is just a long ago fond memory like everything else seems to be since you've been gone.  Just know that even holiday I have from now on will never be the same, a huge hole will forever be in my heart. The turkey doesn't taste the same, the Christmas lights don't have that same shine, and the noises are missing your laugh. I love you and miss you.

Hi Mom...
Well it is Thanksgiving 2016.  Our first big holiday without you here.  All days are hard but this will be difficult.  Even though you had not made the dinner the last couple of years, you were always right there on Thanksgiving.. Keeping the conversations going.. Offering your opinions.. Giving us directions.. Answering questions.. Making us laugh.. You need to know how much we miss you.  Your presence in our family was the biggest - and with you not with us today, there truly is a hole in the family...  We are going to have dinner at your home.  A small group..  Dad, Scott, Melanie, Nate, Beth, Kyle , Melissa and me.. We hope to have a trip to the cemetery too..  Tracy is still recovering at her home with her ankle and Bob has to work..  You know that retail thing at the holidays....
It is a day of Thanks.  And I will give thanks that I had you as my Mom.  Giving and Loving.. The most Outgoing and Friendly person.  A Fighter and Survivor..  And on this day of thanks, we Thank You for all that you did for us during our time together.  For Encouraging us.  Listening to us..  Loving us..  Teaching us..  Helping us.. Scolding us.. Hey Grammy! I have been having this urge to call you and hear your voice and yesterday I realized that it has been 3 months since you left us, 3 months since I last saw your beautiful face. It seems like a lifetime ago yet the pain is still soo fresh. Mom and Popo video chatted with me today and I saw that you have grass up to your headstone, I hope that by your birthday it'll all be filled in so he can have a birthday picnic with you. 
I'll get back there one day and spend an afternoon with you, talking, laughing and crying. I'll even bring you some candy!

I don't cry all day anymore, more like once or twice a day. It's soo unfair that you were taken but I know that you regret nothing. Remember when we had that talk about dying? I'll always remember you telling me that you weren't afraid to die, you lived a good life and when it was your time you would be ready to go.  I hate that you left us and I hate that you left a hole in my heart. Trying to move on and pick up the pieces has been difficult, you were this family to me, you were the glue that put my pieces back together each time . Just know that I'm ok, I will be anyways. You don't have to worry about me, you taught me lessons that I will cherish forever. I hear your voice everyday in my head and I feel your hugs as I lay down to sleep. So until we meet again in the next life, I love you forever.

Storytime Nance...
Our getting together was like a fairy tale meant to be.  A chance meeting, white shorts and big hair curlers. Wow!  Little did I realize that day, we would be spending our lives together.  A year later, another chance meeting. A Marine country boy picked up a City girl who needed a ride up the canyon to the Alpine restaurant in Silverado Canyon, a local hangout.  The rest is history!  She invited me to a beach party the following Saturday. Surprisingly just the two of us showed up.  Thus started a five month fast, furious and exciting courtship.  Then we were married.  A year later we were parents.  A change of life!

We had a full and exciting life and family.  Over the years you always told me you couldn't live without me.  Once again you got your way, you went first.  This time you left a gigantic void in my life.  I sure do miss you.  Now I am left with a great family and lots of memories.  Lots of travel, parties, Memphis, Truckee, Sedona, Palm Springs condo, Alaska, Switzerland, Wrightwood, behind closed bedroom doors, Casinos, Bingo, Tole painting and just reading.  After Wrightwood weekend you got flowers sent to your work.  We have had a full life and wonderful family.  I miss you very, very, much and will visit you often.  We can even have lunch together.

I want to let you know I miss you. I still have a splint on my leg. They are going to have to do surgery according to the orthopedic doctor. Daddy came to visit and to get a change of scenery. He took me for the MRI yesterday. He is doing okay, good days and bad days. We talk a lot about you and both miss you very much. I will make sure to let you know about the surgery (although I have a feeling you already know since you are up there in Heaven with GOD, I am sure he has shared it with you after some reluctance and your persistence). You are not far from my thoughts on a daily basis as I pretty much just lay around due to my foot. I have a lot of time in my own head. I love you mom and miss you. Today is a month since you've left us... 30 days since I kissed your forehead and called you my pretty lady. It's been a whirlwind and seems to be harder and harder each day that goes by.  I went to my first ever Green Bay game and all I wanted to do was call you and tell you about it... all I ever want to do is call you and tell you about everything that is happeneing. I know you would be happy and I know I could get you to laugh , gosh I miss your laugh. 
I came home and found out that I didn't have any saved voice-mails of you and it broke my heart because all I want to do is hear your voice. All I ever want to do is just hear you say ,"Well there's not much to say" but there is sooo much to say!! 
I talked to popo this morning and it came up on my caller ID as grammys house and I lost it... yeah I'm crying all the time but it's ok because I know your looking down smiling at me.
Popo is going to visit you today and he said he would tell you I said hi and I love you but it's not the same and never will be. I miss you more than I thought I could ever miss anyone. I love you grammy❤❤

Mom.... Today is 9/11......  And you were one of the most patriotic people I know...You were so proud to be an American and proud of your country.. Many thoughts of you today...  And everyday...  I miss you every single day.  You had not been well for awhile.. I think we all thought you would continue to fight..  Continue to always make it back home.  And you did come back home for one last time..  We are all so grateful to have been able to spend time with you at home those last few days..  You are so very loved by so many people.. Your family loves you more than you ever knew.  You were an awesome Mother and Wife.  Such an incredible person..  I am so proud you were my Mom.  There is a hole in our family now - We miss you. We miss your laughter.  We miss your smile. We miss being able to pick up the phone and talk to you.  About anything..  We miss your cooking.  Your potato salad and garlic bread.. :-)  We miss it ALL.... It's just hard Mom. You kept our family together even when we were spread through out the county.. We know you are not suffering anymore. Mommy -
I know it is not a secret to daddy or my sister and brother that when I was growing up, you and I did not always see eye to eye. When you said left, I went right; when you said small I went big, when you said stop, I took off, especially when I was a teenager.  As I grew up into an adult, it became apparent that we were very much alike. It was only after I had my own child and went through some of my own life changing experiences that I really began to understand the love between a mother and child. It was at that point where our relationship was not just a bond between mother and daughter, but started to grow into a friendship and you became my best friend. 

You and daddy showed me what real love looks like in a marriage and what the true meaning of family is.  You were there for me when I was sick and you shared in my little and big accomplishments. You and daddy were always there to support me in the decisions and choices I made whether you agreed with them or not. When I needed to talk to my mommy, you were always there. When I needed to cry or vent or just talk about my day, you were always there. Mom, you helped to calm me when I was anxious and encourage me when I didn't even know I needed encouragement. You gave me advice when I asked and sometimes gave advice when I didn't ask. I remember so many times you would tell me how you didn't sleep well the night before as you were worried about me or Terri or Scott or one of the grandkids when one or all of us had something going on in our lives that we had told you about. Then, not too many weeks ago when I was planning to come spend a week's vacation with you and daddy, I fractured my ankle four days before I was supposed to come and three days before you ended up in the hospital for the last time. I spoke to you that night and I know you were disappointed as you were looking forward to me coming to visit. You called me the next day worried about me when you weren't feeling well yourself. All the while I was worried about you and disappointing you. You even tried to make a joke. 

Now mom, standing here today, only God will really know how much I am going to miss you, miss our talks, miss your love. Mom, you are the strongest woman I will ever know and you were and are my best friend. I know you will always be with me, watching out for me. It is because of your strength and God's grace that I also know in time, I will be okay and one day mom, I will see you in heaven.

I met Nancy and Bob in the Tole Painting class at the Solera Clubhouse.  She was always so happy and just had a sparkle in her eyes.  Her smile was so beautiful and she was so excited to see each and every one of us.  She could hardly wait to hear about what we had been doing in our lives, in our travels and also share her stories.  She was such fun to be around.  Then she would wait for Bob to come pick her up to go to lunch.  We all got such a kick out of this routine.  We would ask where they were going for lunch and she would say "I don't know.  Bob, where are we going for lunch?"  Everyone would laugh.  She is very dear to us and she will be missed.

I'll never forget the first time I met Grandma Nancy and Popoe...Kyle, being Kyle lol, thought it would be a good idea to surprise them with his new girlfriend at the time (me) I was a little nervous about how they would react to us surprising them and how they would feel about me, this complete stranger.  I couldn't get over how much Grandma Nancy took me in like her own grandchild with such love and devotion. She was so sweet and nurturing to me from the very moment we met and I will never forget that.  Grandma Nancy was a wonderful, hilarious (she made us laugh so much!) brave, strong, beautiful and loving woman.  I haven't been in our family for very long and I so wish I had more time to share with Grandma Nancy but I know she is in a much better place now, free of suffering and pain. She's up there dancing in heaven, as Kyle said.  We love and miss you, Grandma!!

I have always loved and admired Aunt Nancy!  I loved the sound of her voice and the expression she could make!  We weren't around each other a lot, to many miles between us.  When you all came back here for visits, it was always a special occasion.  I can remember us 3 girls all sleeping in Grandma's feather bed, me in the middle.  I couldn't get to sleep that night for whatever reason, I got and went in where the "Grown-ups" were talking, said I couldn't sleep etc.  Aunt Nancy brushed my hair for about and hour and talked about all the things you guys had saw on the trip back here.  Next day my hair was sooo shinny and soft.  I can also remember when Grandpa tricked Aunt Nancy into eating squirrel, by telling her it was chicken, a very small chicken at that.  She ate it, and then said Grandpa had really played a good one on her!! Also, when she and Uncle Bob came here to my house, first time they had ever met David, somehow the conversation got off on politics, Uncle Bob kept trying to hush Aunt Nancy, and she just kept right on going.  Uncle Bob was uneasy not knowing what David's reaction would be, not wanting to start a big ruckus!  Thank God both David and Aunt Nancy felt pretty much the same way!  Aunt Nancy never blinked and eye, and Uncle Bob was very relived! 
 I know Aunt Nancy has fought a long and difficult battle with her health, I know she is at peace and rest now. There are no words that can easy the pain you all are feeling now.  It is not so easy to have to give someone up.  Your mind know that it is for the best, that they are better off,  BUT your heart feels the emptiness that they are leaving us with.  Please remember your family back here Loves each and everyone of you.  Rest in Peace Aunt Nancy.

Grammy you were the light in every room, you had the most magnetic personality and always had a smile on your face. You taught me more things than I can remember and you will always live on in my heart and the stories I will tell my great grandchildren.
