Mary Anne Glock will be remembered as a kind sister, loyal daughter, a cheerful friend and even though she did not have children of her own she was as a second mother to her many nieces and nephews giving them all enriching life experiences that will be with them always.
Mary Anne Glock was born March 20th 1942 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Roswell New Mexico to Jean Madigan Glock and William Adolph Glock. She was the oldest of four children and is survived by her two brothers William Glock of Beaumont, CA and her brother Robert Glock and his wife Beverly of Tucson, AZ. Her sister Elizabeth (Libby) Glock Revell of San Pedro, CA preceded her in death.
Anne’s parents moved to Beaumont, California in 1952. She spent the last 58 years living in her family home on Eighth Street in Beaumont. Anne along with her siblings attended Precious Blood Catholic School in Banning, CA. She then graduated from St Francis De Sales Catholic High School in Riverside, CA in 1960. Anne went on to work for what would become the Mt. San Jacinto Judicial District, She started at Palm Springs Justice in 1960 then moved to Banning where they went from San Gorgonio Justice Court to Municipal and then merged with the Hemet/San Jacinto court. In the 28 years that Anne worked for the courts she went from a clerk, to court room clerk then to supervisor and then was made a Court Administrator. She worked for the distinguished Judge Bailey and Judge Peterson. Anne retired from the courts in 1988. In 1989 Anne went on to work at the San Bernardino County Probation Department where she worked in an office support role working with what she described as “amazing and dedicated officers”. Anne retired from the Probation Department after 20 years in 2009. Anne also spent 10 years 1996-2006 working the night shift at the US Postal Service in Redlands as a receiving clerk.
Anne had many causes and hobbies that she was passionate about. She lived on a small farm with chickens, sheep, ducks, and always had an assortment of dogs, cats, and birds that she had adopted from the local shelters. Her dogs Tippy, Princess, Shaggy, Shadow, Bandit, Wagner, Sugar, King, and Nala were some of her closest companions through out her life. Anne leaves behind a family of 7 cats and 6 dogs that she cared for. She ardently supported many animal causes especially charities for wolves in the wild and environmental groups particularly the Sierra Club.
Anne enjoyed gardening, and baking old family recipes from her Grandmother Glock from Switzerland. Every Christmas all of her nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters, and extended cousins could count on a gift of old world cookies baked especially for them.
Anne loved movies, concerts, and plays. She would take her nieces and nephews to movie marathons, entire Saturday’s spent at the movies. She loved all movies but was a great fan of Star Trek and Star Wars.
Anne was known for her collections she loved stamps, Franklin Mint dolls, ceramic animals, cookbooks, hallmark ornaments, decorative plates, she loved to read, when she was a child she read Little Women monthly. She passed on her hobbies to many of her nieces and nephews. She also loved horse racing. A love passed on by her father Bill Glock who was a ranch hand at the former Three Rings Ranch of Beaumont.
Anne was an avid artist, in her youth she loved to paint and draw. She was also an enthusiastic photographer a passion shared by her other siblings as well.
Anne loved to travel and in her youth visited Australia, Canada, and Hawaii. She also shared that love with her nieces and nephews taking them on trips to Hawaii, and the southwest United States.
Anne was an avid International Pen Friend. She corresponded with some Pen Friends for over 50 years. Including one of her longest Pen Friends Libby Huntley of Orange, NSW Australia, Anne and Libby were both able to meet a few times over the years. Anne’s Pen Friends covered the globe.
Anne was the family genealogist, she spent her entire life tracking down and recording information about her Glock/Madigan family history. She also kept her mother’s sister’s family the Grimes and various other branches of the family. She also kept all family correspondence from her lifetime. She tracked family members to Canada, Ireland, and Germany. She has passed this love of the past on to many of her nieces and nephews who hope to continue her legacy.
In addition to her brothers Anne is survived by her great-nephew Raymond Revell 15 of Beaumont, CA who lived with Anne since he was a child, her nieces, Melissa Hernandez of Beaumont, Jennifer Beck and husband Jeff of Tucson, AZ, Michelle Martinez of San Pedro, CA, Autumn Glock of Arcata, CA and Tasha Luckett and husband Mike of Tampa, FL ; nephew, Bill Glock and wife Brittney of Glenwood Springs, CO and nephew Rob Glock of Vail, AZ; 14 great-nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins of the Glock, Grimes, Madigin, Donnelly, Buck, Holmes, Beal and Brown families. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to your local humane society or the Ramona Animal Shelter in Hemet, California.
