Lawrence William Boyce, affectionately known as "Larry," passed from this life on January 26, 2024, at the age of 75. Born in Hawthorne, California on June 30, 1948, Larry grew to be a man of kindness, generosity, and exceptional character, touching the lives of many as a dedicated father, grandfather, and friend.
His vocational journey began behind the wheel, driving for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in 1966 and then for WTC Airfreight until the late '80s. Swapping gears, he dabbled as a heavy-duty equipment mechanic before settling into a role that kept the engines of Beaumont Unified School District purring until he hung up his wrenches in 2002.
Outside of work, Larry's hobbies revealed the joys of his heart. Whether through his love for trains, his affinity for horseback riding, or his knack for fixing things, he pursued each interest with passion and patience. After hanging up his work boots, he became the unofficial neighborhood tech support, tinkering with everything from VCRs to the latest gadgets.
And let’s not forget, the steady flow of Amazon boxes at the doorstep was a telltale sign of his favorite pastime, hunting down his next great deal online.
Larry is survived by his cherished children Denise Bustamante (and her husband Austin), Scott Boyce (and his wife Kati), Nichole Rentz (and her husband Michael), and by his beloved grandchildren Alexis Anderson, Makenzee Anderson, Adilynn Boyce, and Ellery Boyce. He was a beacon of stability and care for his family, and his legacy as a proud and loving patriarch will endure in their hearts.
Preceding him in death were his parents Betty R. Boyce and Gordon W. Boyce, and his former spouse, Deborah A. Boyce, with whom he shared 14 years of marriage and his three children.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 10 AM at Weaver Mortuary in Beaumont, California, where his life will be honored and remembered among family and friends. A reception will immediately follow the service.
