James was a Veteran serving eight years in the Army National Guard, and married the love of his life, Mary JoAnne Lawrence “Joie” in 1953.
The early years with a young and growing family led them to Banning, California to raise their family of three children. The family of five enjoyed the small-town community, vacationing to National Parks and staying “close to the earth.” Jim and family became familiar with the surrounding wilderness, with the endeared memories of hunting and fishing.
As an active family, sports become a highlight and bridging youth football players between Banning and Beaumont as Junior All American Football took hold. “Coach Paul” dearly loved this opportunity spanning over many years; with the pleasure of seeing so many athletes excel though high school and beyond.
Midlife, Jim resumed his passion for horses which was our very first memories. Riding and team roping was the new deal as the first grandchildren came into the world.
Later in life Jim picked his tennis racquet back up and played for leisure with some competitive tournament fun and keepsake medals.
First and foremost, Jim is respected as a soldier in the Lord’s Army and will be remembered for his stand for the truth as a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
