George “Brian” Kovalsky was given the gift of life, and is now at peace as he is embraced in God’s presence. He passed away at his home in Oak Glen, CA on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the age of 66. A two-time cancer survivor, he lost his battle with pancreatic cancer diagnosed in November 2016.
Brian is predeceased by his parents, George and Florence Kovalsky.
Brian is lovingly remembered by wife, Diane of Honolulu, Hawaii; his daughters Kristen Duke-Richardet and fiancé Udom Motayasiri of Oyster Bay, New York, Joy Pittinger and husband Daniel of Woodsboro, Maryland; granddaughters Amelie and Ela Pittinger; brother Daniel Kovalsky and wife Jeanine of Pasadena, MD; sister Teresa Lupinek and husband James of Catonsville, MD; and brother Matthew Kovalsky and wife Traci of Finksburg, MD. He also has many loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Brian was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on May 29, 1950. He graduated from Loyola University Maryland and was a software engineer. He is best remembered for his work in developing the UPS Electronic Signature Pad, wireless dispatch and workflow system for Columbia Gas of Virginia, and most recently, the strategy to implement the Riverside County Property Tax System in California.
Brian enjoyed sports, especially lacrosse, as well as outdoor activities, especially anything “in the wind.” He was an active member of the Valleywide Kayak Club, loved hiking up in San Jacinto and other national forests, and spending time with his family.
A private cremation will be at Weavers Mortuary in Beaumont, CA, and his presence may be felt in the wind along his favorite mountain range.
