Some of my fondest memories as a kid are from living next door to you and you your amazing family.  I think about all of you often.  Rest in paradise Mr. Rivera.

Edward this is your first birthday your family will spend without you, but actually your spirit is with them,you are missed happy birthday.

Dad, where do I begin?  I miss you so much dad!  I wish I could bring you back, but I know you wouldn't want to, because your in paradise!  There is a piece of me that is missing, and I don't think that will ever go away.  Thank you for being the man, husband, and father that you were.  I am who I am today because of you.  You taught me how to love, how to respect, how to work hard and provide, and how to treat others.  You are the GREATEST FATHER a son could ever have or wish for!  I thank God for giving me the opportunity to be your son!  What an honor and privilege it was! I will always cherish all of our memories together.  The dance battles we had, the laughing we would do!!!! Oh how I wish, I could just have one more moment again! I cannot express in words how thankful I am for all the love you gave me and showed me, and for everything you taught me and did for me! Melissa and Aliyah were blessed to have you in their lives for the time God allowed, and although it was a short time, they will have a life time of memories of their “Grandpa Steve.” Angela also wanted me let you know how great of a man you were, that you were able to raise me to be a hard worker, good man, and a great husband.  Thank you dad! I would always tell you when I left the house, “I'll see you later dad”, and that will never change.  Dad, I love you! Words cannot express how much I miss you, how much I love you, and how proud I am to tell everyone that you are my dad. Watch over us all, have fun up there and “take out the papers and the trash” up there for me until I get there.  I'll see you later dad……….

Edward I cannot believe its been almost a month since you left us. It seems like only yesterday that you were battling Steve in a dance off.I miss your laughter that was so infectious. For some reason I was always able to give you a good laugh. I thank God that he brought Steve and I together and that I was blessed to know you and be part of your family. You had such a big heart and love for your family your children and friends. I can still hear you ask every time you saw us and Steve was working "Where's Steve?". The song Steve sang said it best that in Christ there are no goodbyes in Christ there is no end so we will hold on to Jesus with all that we have until we can see you again. I love and miss you and like you used to always say to us "see you later".

Grandpa Steve I love and miss you so much! I know that you are looking down  on our family from heaven and keeping us safe. I can't wait to see you again and I love you with all my heart. Love, your granddaughter Aliyah.

"Grandpa.. words cant explain how much I and everyone else misses you.. you were all ways there when we needed a laugh.. your smile brightend the room.. im gonna miss the way you sang your songs.. your dances .. and how could I everb forget your laugh.. I dream about you almost every nite.. sometimes ill pray to god for him to put you in my dreams.. The lord all ways takes the good ones.. your heart was so big.. all ways helping others.. Dad I love you more than I can even understand..I think about you constantly & I miss you so much. I wish I could've showed you more..wish I would've been there more..it's sad how death can sometimes bring the most important things to light..I hope you can forgive me..please know that I appreciate everything you did..I'm so grateful to have been blessed with such a great man as my father. I'm not bitter..I'm better..somehow in some crazy way this is helping me in so many ways. I believe things happen for reasons we will never understand..they just sort of come together & fall into place..people meet for certain reasons..I'm surrounded by good people with huge hearts..especially mom..I'll be there for her just as you both have done for me. The love you two share inspires me..real love..soul mates..I believe in that..thank you for all these things you've shown me. I know your physical form is far gone..but I can feel you still with us & it's a great feeling..I love you dad.

My family and I send our deepest sympathy. It is so comforting to know that we will all be together again with our Lord. Seems like yesterday when Eddy and I were young men working at Albers feed mill. Great times and greater memories. I still picture Eddy driving around in his old pick up. Rest in peace my old friend.Absent from the body is present with the Lord.

To Sister Teresa and the Rivera.family, We remeber Brother Ed as a man who loved God, his family and his church, and always had some thing encouraging to say. Seeing sister Teresa and brother Ed together always reminded us of the people that we hope to be one day. Dear Teresa Rivera & Family:

     We are saddened by the passing of our good friend and brother in Jesus, Edward Rivera.  Time and schedule did not permit for us to get away to see Edward before he passed.
So we are left with the fond memories of the last time we saw Mr. Rivera, on October 2013, supporting his church in revival services. 

     What a joy to see Him and his loving wife every night of revival, faithful as always, serving His Lord.  Edward was one of those church members that make pastoring a joy.  Alway's helpful, joyful and always available, “doing all things as unto the Lord.  The church longs for more people like Edward.

     We'll never forget Edward, who was always willing to lend a helping hand.  Especially when I needed some automotive help and didn't know what to do.  “I'll call Edward, he'll know what to do.”  And faithful as his old-beat-up-truck, rain or shine, Edward would come and bail me out, time after time.
     We'll never forget catching a Laker game (during the 90's) on the edge of our seats, freaking out, yet Edward as cool and composed as if he were Phil Jackson! We will miss his generous hospitality.  How fitting that Edward left us—in what is the Lakers worst season in history.

     Our hearts go out to Teresa and the family as they walk this path.  No words can remove the pain of losing the patriarch of the home.  No amount of comfort can remove the reality that Edward won't be around anymore.  But we have the utmost confidence that Edward, along with  Jesus and the saints, await for us in heaven. “Everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life.” John 3.15

     Our sadness is therefore but for a moment.  It is temporary as Paul wrote, “for me living is Christ and dying is gain.“ Phil 1.21  I pray that many will take this time to reflect on a man who served His lord unto the end of his days.  May God's grace overshadow the family.

Rivera family  - you are in my daily prayers so that you may find the strength and comfort to keep "marching on" without your loved one.  My Tio Lalo was a pillar of faith, strength and family unity.  He lost this battle on earth, but lives forever in our hearts and our memories.  He no longer hurts but rather rejoices in our Lord's presence.  Until we meet again, he will live on in each and every person he touched during his journey on earth.  At the hospital in Loma Linda, he looked good, I saw him laugh at my brother's silly jokes with that "twinkle" in his eyes.  Then when we bid our farewells, he was concerned about my own health and battle with cancer.  He asked me to take care of myself and to "fight" on.  Giving and caring as always! I love you Tio!

To the Rivera family:
Our condolences on the loss of Mr. Rivera. We didn't know him for that long but he was like family to us. From playing basketball in the back yard to staying the night at his house. I was lucky enough to see him and visit a couple of times since we moved to Kansas 26 years ago. Both times we stopped he welcomed us into his home with open arms and a smile. Although we didn't keep in touch over the years, the Rivera family has always been on our minds. Edward will greatly be missed by us. Our love, thoughts and prayers to the family.

Edward, You are blessed that God called you home. You were a good man, raised a well adjusted family and David and I could not be anymore grateful than we are that Steve and Angela married and our families joined.  The memories that you have left within your family should be cherished like gold because you may be gone now but your spirit lives within them. We were honored to have known you.  You will be missed.

Dear Edward,  You were always a source of strength for so many of us.  My family will miss you so terribly.  Thank you for being a great man and a great friend.  Tony will be happy to see you!!!  Love always, Diana Marcos Aurora Monica and Maleah!

The most important person was granted his wings  , you fought a big fight grandpa , I know god welcomed you home with open arms and brand new body that is painless , I'll miss the twinkle in your eye the smile on your face just by seeing everyone you loved in front of you , I'm happy I had the chance to say what I had to say before you went home && one thing I'll never forget is the words you told me before you passed when you looked me rite in the eyes and say "I LOVE YOU MIJA AND DONT YOU EVER FORGET THAT" I want to thank you soo much for being such a good grandfather to me and telling me to never give up , always being there to pick me up when I fall . You always had the perfect words to say when I needed someone to talk too , my shoulder to cry on , I thank god that he have me the ability to help you when you needed it ! My heart hurts knowing I'll no longer get to hug you nor be able to see that wonderful smile or hear that lovely laugh but you'll always be with me in sprit , I love you grandpa Forever and always . Rest in peace my number one!!

Edward, you were a great father-in-law. I have a great husband because of the example you were to Eddie . Also my kids have a good father because of you. I will never forget all the laughter and family get togethers we shared over the years. Our church services and fellowships will not be the same because you brought so much laughter and joy to them.
