Dave was a true world traveler and tour guide. He loved to travel anywhere a boat, train, car or especially airplane would take him. When he was a boy mowing the lawn, he would put the mower in idle and just stop and look up at the airplanes flying overhead. As an adult he went to work for United Airlines in the Bay area in different management capacities and then finally working in the tower as a Zone Controller in Denver, Colorado where he retired in 2015. He really used the flight benefits from United. He placed red dots on maps of the world and USA of everywhere he had flown. He also kept the number of every airplane he had flown on. But of all of the places in the world he loved, his favorite was Hawaii. He called it his happy place.
Dave moved to Beaumont in 2016 and for the past 2 years was a Volunteer at the Beaumont Police Department. He was one of many dedicated people (CVP’s) that help keep Beaumont safe. The friends he made at the PD are so amazing and really care about him. He loved volunteering and loved being part of the Community.
Rest in Peace Dave Kirby.....
