Alverine Mosley Peach graduated to Heaven on October 10, 2013 at the age of 98 from her home in Cherry Valley, California. She was born on January 1, 1915 in Stephens County, TX to father Garret Benjamin (GB) Mosley and mother Nancy Ann Margaret Eubanks. She attended Sul Ross College in Alpine, TX majoring in Library Science and English Literature.
She married Ray Everett Peach in 1936 and they were married for 52 years until his passing in 1988. During that time they made their home in several locations; from Texas, to Washington, to California. During WWII, she worked at the Boeing factory in Seattle, WA, building B-17 bombers; but she was primarily a devoted homemaker to her husband and 7 children.
In 1991, at the age of 76, she married Earnest John Peach, Ray’s younger brother, and made her home in Lemon Grove, California until his passing in 1998. After that she moved to Round Rock, TX and lived there until 2005 when she returned to California.
Alverine loved adventure and feared nothing. In her 90s she took a hot air balloon ride, helicopter ride, Harley Davidson ride, and her final big adventure was in a 1940’s bi-plane at the age of 97. She wrote poetry and was a member of the International Society of Poets, winning many awards and having several of her poems published. She was a member of Fellowship in the Pass Church in Beaumont, CA and had been a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and fervent prayer warrior from early childhood. She started each day with the morning crossword puzzle and credited that for helping to keep her mind sharp for so many years. Her greatest joy was being around children and she will be most remembered for the brilliant smile she wore while holding or playing with her beloved great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Darlene Overton-Todd of Tucson, AZ; Dwight (Joan) Peach of Elgin, TX; Robert (Robbie) Peach of Tucson, AZ; Louise (Wes) Riddle of Round Rock, TX; David (Kim) Peach of Joshua Tree, CA; John Peach of San Diego, CA; Elaine (Gary) Knick of Cherry Valley, CA; and her brother Gordon (Laura) Mosley of Lakebay, WA. She will also be sorely missed by her 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and many other dear friends and family.
Her “graduation ceremony” will be held on Sunday, October 20th at 12 noon at Mt. View Middle School, 200 Cougar Way, Beaumont, CA. There will be a viewing at Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Ave., Beaumont, CA, on Saturday, October 19th anytime between 4 and 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her name.
