surrounded by family. Family was of utmost importance; his greatest joy was spending time
with family. He was a kind, caring person and a mentor to many. He was an avid reader,
enjoyed golf, travel, and sports.
Albert was born August 21,1923 in Whittier, CA. He attended U.C. Berkeley in the V-12 Navy
College Training Program. Upon graduation in 1943, he was commissioned as a Second
Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in the Pacific in the occupation of Japan with
the Eighth Service Regiment attached to the Second Marine Division in Sasebo, Japan. He was
honorably discharged in 1946.
Albert was in the banking and real estate lending business. He was very active in his church
and community, and served as a deacon at Ventura Missionary Church. He served on the Ojai
Unified School District Board for over twenty years, and on the Ventura County Retirement
Board for forty-four years.
Albert was pre-deceased by his son Glenn Albert and daughter Diane Stevens. He is survived
by his wife of thirty-eight years, Rosa Lee Measures, sister Barbara Olson, children Wyatt
(Claudia) Harris, Dena Slifer, step-children Nick Measures and Tami (Mike) Quam, nine
grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
A private celebration will be held with family. In honor of his memory, contributions may be
made to the Ventura Botanical Gardens, and/or the Rubicon Theatre and Young Life.
