Willie Mae Moore, 86, of Baytown was born May 20, 1925 in Hallettsville, TX and passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011 in a local healthcare facility. She was a Boy Scout and Girl Scout Leader and a Beaumont district kindergarten lab instructor. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for over 40 years, where she was a Sunday school teacher and chairman of the benevolence committee and blood drive. She was a member of Church Women United for over 30 years and was a member and former vice president of the United Methodist Women for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Mary Melnar; husband, B. R. ""Rudy"" Moore; and brother, Raymond Melnar. She is survived by her son, Dale Moore of Dayton; daughter, Cheryl Towery of La Porte; sisters, Gladys Harding of Houston and Betty Jean Metzler of Hallettsville; grandchildren, Mason Towery, Lori' Posey and husband, Ros, Logan Towery, Maegan Reynolds and husband, Brandon, and Zoee Moore; and great granddaughter, Chloe Posey.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, July 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Pruett Campus of Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist Church, 304 N. Pruett St., Baytown, TX 77520 with Rev. Ken Goodell officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Liberty.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mason Towery, Logan Towery, Daryn Metzler, Devyn Metzler, Marvin Moore, and Bill Watts.
Her family would like to say a special ""thank you"" to Dr. Phillip Eichelberger, Dr. Deepa Sashital and the staff of Texas Oncology, the IMCU staff at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital, especially Krysta and Sam, and the staffs of Remington Park Baytown and Faith Community Hospice. We would also like to extend a very special thank you to all friends and family for the many visitations, cards, flowers, gifts and food during Mother's extended illness.
