Throughout her life Verna Mae had many adventures with her brother and sister growing up. In 1947 she married the love of her life B.W. Barfield Jr and for the next 55 years they never left each other’s side. She was on the women’s pumper team for the volunteer fire fighters of Baytown, the Baytown Rough Riders and a lifetime member of the Baytown Youth Fair. Her true enjoyment was her family, for many years each Sunday she would cook dinner for her family at her house and make her special points for dessert. When she moved in with her daughter in the latter years of her life she loved to sit on the back porch and watch her great grandchildren with their show animals. Her family loved hearing her stories of her childhood and how the world was better back then. Gee loved all animals and got pleasure out of watching the cows and chickens and feeding her great grand dogs Rose and Idgie under the table. Her family will greatly miss Gee but their memories of her will live on for a lifetime.
