Vera was born in Evant, Hamilton County, Texas on November 10, 1921 to Robert J. and Lydia Dunn Ball. She attended Robert E. Lee her junior year in high school but returned to graduate with her original classmates at Evant High School in 1939.
Vera was employed by Western Union, Consolidated Shipyard, Humble Oil and Refining Co., and General Tire during WWII. She later worked for Culpepper Furniture Company until she went into business with two partners, opening Furniture, Etc. Vera was always grateful to all of the people who loyally supported her in the furniture business. She has been a member of Pruitt and Lobit Church of Christ since 1937.
She was preceded in death by her four year old daughter, Lisa Parker; sisters, Eva Christian and Nona Roberson; brothers, Frank, Pete, and Ed Bull; and her parents.
She leaves to rejoice in her memory her son Donald Parker and grandson Dylan, both of Crosby and granddaughter, Jessica of Baytown. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Elsie Bull; niece, Hazel Lusk, numerous nieces and nephews form the Baytown area, including Mary Jane and Reggie Ethridge, Vince and Kim Bull, Ronnie Bull, and Lisa and Keith Fant, along with nephew R. C. Christian from Bandera.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 22, 2005 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Private family graveside services will be held at Cedarcrest Cemetery in Cedar Bayou.
In lieu of usual remembrances, donations may be made in Vera’s name to her niece, Judy Bull Atkinson’s scholarship fund at Lee Collage, P.O. Box 818, Baytown, TX 77522, Attention: Roberta Wright.
