On Monday, August 12, 2024, Thomas Wayne Barron was reunited with his Savior. What a glorious day it was for a man who loved Jesus so much. Thomas, or Tommy, as most knew him, was born December 1, 1951, in Baytown, Texas to T.J. and Mary Jean Barron.
Tommy was married to the love of his life, LeAnne Shirey Barron for 49 and a half years until she was called home in December of 2019. Their love for each other was an example to their children, that knowing Jesus and loving people unconditionally is the best foundation for this life. Tommy loved his family fiercely. He was a protective husband, father, Papa, and friend. He was the “go-to” of the family, and he never hesitated to drop everything to pray when anyone needed him. Tommy had a great love for the outdoors and loved to hunt. He often spoke of his adventures growing up on his grandparent’s farm and the shenanigans that took place. He was always quick with a joke or a made-up song to make people laugh, but he was also someone who anyone could go to when they needed someone to listen to your every word and be a strong and calm shoulder to lean on.
Tommy spent Tuesday mornings having breakfast with his buddies whom he adored. He was often found catching up with friends over the phone and genuinely cared about each of them. He had a precious grin that was most often seen when he was spending time with his grandchildren and great grands. He was always quick to run and get the cookies he kept hidden because they were for the great grands only. He was a very loving, compassionate, strong, and thoughtful man who is very missed already by all who knew him.
Tommy started working at Coca-Cola then became a Pasadena Police officer until he started working at Exxon for 30 years before retiring. He was a faithful member of Celebration of Life Church in Baytown. He was a member of Bay Area Shooting Club and the NRA. He had a passion for hunting, was a gun expert, and loved history and all the classic shows like Gun Smoke and The Rifleman. He had a heart for Jesus and making sure everyone knew Him as their Savior. He loved praying for everyone who needed it.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, loving wife LeAnne, and infant daughter Laura LeAnne.
He is survived by his daughters Jeania Dunn (Jody), Angela Downs (John), and Lauren Barron (George Glass). Grandchildren Lyndsey Dunn, Kelsey Armstrong (Bradley), Sydney Dunn (Tanner Perry), Kooper Dunn, Hannah Downs (Jeff Watkins), Hunter Downs (Amelia Burns), great grandchildren Hudson & Henry Armstrong, Jaxson, John, Jameson & Kinsley Watkins, brother Terry Barron and sister Diana Cannon.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, August 19th at 10:00 am at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home 3919 Garth Rd. Baytown, TX 77521 with the Celebration of Life starting at 11:00 am. The committal service will follow at 12:30 pm at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery 8624 Garth Rd. Baytown, TX 77521.
