Sue Jennings, 82, of Baytown was born December 19, 1929 in Mineola, TX and passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 in a local hospital. She and her husband of 61 years, Leroy Jennings, grew up in the East Texas town of Mineola and moved to Baytown after his service in the US Navy during the last years of WWII, in 1948 where he began work for Humble Oil and Refining. She began her teaching career with the Goose Creek School District as a teacher at Travis Elementary and then Harlem Elementary, where she was the principal when she retired. Sue attended countless dance recitals and sporting events for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to travel. After their retirement they traveled avidly and went on many riverboat cruises in various parts of the world. They traveled to China, Africa, Russia, Europe, Alaska, and the Caribbean. The family made many trips to the ""loggin cabin"" in New Mexico and hiked countless miles in the mountains.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents Ned and Johnie Moody. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Matthew Garey of Baytown; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Susan Jennings of Friendswood; brother and sister-in-law, Ned and Janie Moody of Bay City; granddaughter, Alison Brown and husband, John of Devine; grandsons, Kyle Garey and wife, Jennifer of Houston, Austin Jennings of San Antonio, and Morgan Jennings of League City; and great grandchildren Karsyn and Karter Brown of Devine.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Tuesday, September 11, 2012 beginning at 3:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Skip Negley officiating.
