Shirley Mae Prinzel passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023 at her daughter Robin’s home with family and friends by her side. She was born August 24, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, but came to Texas with her family as a teenager.
She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Luciel Detro; husband Ervin R. Prinzel; brothers Bobby Detro, Jimmy Detro and Charles Detro; sisters Betty Turner, Kathleen Huddleston, Norma Ross and Joan Faldyn.
She is survived by her daughters, Vickie Stipe (Bill) and Robin McGowan; two grandsons Brian Stipe (Cindy) and Dustin Sieber; two great grandchildren Jake Stipe and Lily Stipe; sister Judy Cooling; and sister-in-laws Rita Findlay and Judy Detro.
Shirley was a longtime member of St John’s Methodist Church. She was an excellent seamstress and made clothing for her family as well as dresses for proms, weddings and business attire. Her other talent was baking and her pies were loved at family gatherings.
The family would like to thank the special people that helped with Shirley’s care: Ornella (Nells) Joseph, Sharon Alexis and Plum Headley. Also, Lilliane Wanji her nurse with Real Comfort Hospice and her visitors from Visiting Angels.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 – 10:30 am, Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, Texas 77521. Funeral service will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery, Baytown, Texas.
