Shirley was born in Patrick County, Virginia in 1937 to Frank and Cova Cox. She later lived in Washington, D.C., Vermont, Florida, and Louisiana before settling in Texas. 
She is preceded in death by both parents and her beloved sister, Jean Scott. She leaves behind her nephew, John Stone and wife, Pat; her niece, Sandra Fulcher and husband, Tim; great-nephews, Scott and Matthew, and great-nieces, Beth and Cara; and great-great nephews John, Benjamin, Silas, and Jake,; and great-great nieces Bailey, Madeline, Grace, Audrey, and Emily.
Shirley will be remembered for her cheerful outlook, ready smile, and kind heart.
