Scott Townsend

Scott was born January 9, 1948, in Baytown to his late parents, Beulah Armenia Martin Townsend and Leslie Warren Townsend, grew up in a wonderful 1950's neighborhood environment in Baytown, where his father worked for Exxon, and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1966.

After attending Lee College, Scott worked for Lee College for 30 years, retiring in 2005. His greatest pleasures in life were the simple things like talking with friends, reading, and watching television. Scott was a sweet, kind, generous, and gentle soul, much like his beloved mother and father.

Scott is survived by his brother, Craig Arnold Townsend of Houston, nephew Kelly Craig Townsend of Austin, and grandnephew, Emmett Scott Townsend.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at Navarre Funeral Home. A service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at the funeral home with Rev. Nancy Cobbs officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at Oakland Cemetery in Navasota.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the John Scott Townsend Scholarship Fund, c/o Lee College, P.O. Box 818, Baytown, Texas 77522.
