Sarah Elizabeth Guill died on March 14th, 2024, in Sugar Land Texas. She was born on September 3, 1924, in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma to Jess and Cora Clark and was the fifth of seven children. Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Sharon Guill, her sons, Timothy Guill and partner, Vicki and Geoffrey Guill and wife, Kathy. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Daniel Guill, Ashley Guill McCabe and husband, Sam, Erin Guill Adams and husband Michael, and Austen Guill and wife, Ellie, as well as four great grandchildren, William Henry McCabe., Noah James McCabe, Blake Olivia Adams, and Anne Kathryn Guill. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul and son, Robert Paul.
Elizabeth grew up in Oklahoma during the great depression years, a tragedy compounded by the dust bowl of Oklahoma in the mid-1930s. In 1942, she graduated as salutatorian of her high school class. She met Paul Guill, a first lieutenant in the United States Army, at a soda fountain in Fort Gibson while he was stationed there. They were married on December 22, 1942.
In 1943, Elizabeth and Paul’s first son, Robert Paul was born in Kerrville, Texas where Elizabeth lived while Paul was deployed during World War II. After the war, Elizabeth lived with her husband Paul in Stuttgart, Germany as part of the Allied Occupation Force. She became an administrative assistant to the brigade commander and gained top secret clearance, which was higher than that of her husband, who was then an officer with the US Army Counterintelligence Corps. In 1948, Elizabeth and Paul welcomed their daughter, Sharon, and later sons, Timothy in 1953 and Geoffrey in 1959.
In the 1950s, Elizabeth and Paul moved to Baytown Texas where she started work at Ethyl Corporation as a mail room attendant and worked her way up to become the administrative assistant to the plant manager. She retired on February 27th, 1989, after 30 years, which was the same day as the birth of her twin granddaughters.
Elizabeth was an avid reader, enthusiastic bridge player and incredible cook but will forever be remembered as a loving and dedicated grandmother. She was a true matriarch whose life revolved around taking care of her family. She will be missed by all of those who knew her.
