Sam Waklin Pevoteaux Sr., 89, of Baytown, TX, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 19, 2017. He was born in Richards, TX, on May 11, 1927. Sam was the son of Lawrence and Luta Pevoteaux. He was a very kind, generous, loving husband, father, and grandfather who would go above and beyond for his family. He enjoyed being outdoors and working in his garden and sharing the things he grew with family and friends. He was no stranger to anyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Luta Pevoteaux; his wife, Jessie Powell Pevoteaux; daughter, Marianne Brumley; and granddaughter, Courtney Wall.
He is survived by his daughter, Ginger Holifield; son and daughter-in-law, Sam Waklin Pevoteaux, Jr. and wife Debbie; his five grandchildren, Mindela Trousdale and husband James, Trey Pevoteaux and wife Ashley, Melissa Pevoteaux and Alex, Crystal Brumley, Lonny Brumley, Jr., and wife Angela; as well as numerous great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Wooster Baptist Church and retired from Texas Eastern after over 40 years of service. He was an active member of the Harris County Fresh Water Supply District #27 for many years.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Earthman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 11:00 am at Wooster Baptist Church, 7007 Bayway Dr, Baytown, TX 77520. Interment will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery, 3010 Ferry Rd., Baytown, TX 77521.
