Ruby Grace Rogers

Ruby Grace Rogers, 87, of Baytown, TX passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014, at her home. She was born on September 23, 1926 in Goose Creek where she resided all her life. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Ruby will be forever missed by her loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Ovid Rogers and daughter-in-law, Bettie Rogers. She is survived by her husband O. J. Rogers, to whom she was married for 69 years. Together they raised four wonderful children, three sons and one daughter, Rickey Rogers of Livingston, James L. Rogers and wife Andrea of Baytown, and Gracie Lester and husband Larry of Huffman. She is also survived by eight wonderful grandchildren, Dr. Rhonda Cooke of Baltimore, MD., Richard Rogers and Janet of Livingston, Jim Rogers of Bryan, Amy Hennigan and husband Jesse of La Porte, Ruby Michelle McLaughlin and husband Keith of Jonestown, Wes Lester and wife Gina of Houston, Spyros Charalampous of Baytown, and Stacey Dreaden and husband Jimmy of Baytown. Also eight very precious great grandchildren, Reagan and Spencer McLaughlin, Aiden and Kherington Hennigan, Caleb Lester, and Zachary, Ty and Ryan Charalampous. She is also survived by her sister, Bernice Warner and a niece and a nephew.

She had many friends, long-time friend Jessie Rhodes, whom she called daily and her very dear friend Mary Francis Bonds. We want to also give special thanks to her very close church friends at Wooster Baptist Church who were always furnishing transportation whenever she needed it. She adored all of them and always looked forward to church each Sunday and going out with them for lunch afterwards. She enjoyed playing dominoes with these same friends monthly. Her family and friends will always remember her as a loving and kind person and she will be greatly missed.

Graveside services as she had requested will be at Memory Gardens in Baytown on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Jason Shuttlesworth officiating.
