Richard Harley Bailey, 76, of Highlands, Texas passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at his home with his loving family by his side. Richard was born in Hagansport, Texas, but spent most of his life in Highlands. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1956 and attended Texas A&M University. He was a member of the Highlands Masonic Lodge and The Crosby United Methodist Church.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; Earnest & Nina Bailey, sister; Norma Jean Barron, and mother & father in-laws Bill & Winnie Kanak.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Bailey, daughter; Tera (Spud) Smith, son; Richard Harley Bailey, Jr., grandchildren; Cassie, Shawn, Candace, & Robert, great grandchildren; Robert, Canden, David, & Luke, who were the love of his life, brother; Earnest Ray (Darlene) Bailey of Garland, Tx., Aunt; Edres Phipps of Palestine, Tx., and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Peace, Ray Pace, Gary Ressler, Mickey Welch, Joel Parrish, and Fred Thompson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jody Kratky, Raymond Balcerwitz, Bill Kanak, Bobby Odom, and Spud Smith.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Earthman Funeral Home. Services will be Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel, interment will follow at Memory Gardens.
