Rexford “Rex” Lynn Moffett, 72, of Beach City, Texas, passed away in his home with his wife and family by his side on Sunday, March 19, 2023. He was born Sunday, January 28, 1951, in Baytown, Texas to the late Mack W. Moffett and Bessie W. Turner.
He began his career as a crane operator while working offshore, then made his way back onshore working in several different refineries in the Baytown and surrounding areas for over 50 years until he retired in 2019. Rex became a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in February of 1981 and served as a member and Master Mason at the Sampson Masonic Lodge in Highlands, TX. He loved family gatherings, telling stories of “the good old days”, watching movies, riding his motorcycle, operating any and every piece of heavy equipment he could get his hands on, traveling, mowing the yard, and most of all, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His favorite color was what he called “rigging red”, and he started each morning off with a cup of coffee, 1 sugar, no cream, and his daily scripture reading.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 43 years, Debbie Moffett, 6 children, Tina Moffett, Tim Faubion, Teri Blackburn, Shelly Stevens and husband Travis, Mandy Moffett, Laura Mitcham and husband Paul, one aunt, Betty Gay Moody, 12 grandkids, 7 great grandkids, 3 nephews, 2 nieces, their spouses, and numerous other family members and loved ones including his faithful dog, Gunner. He is preceded in death by his father, Mack W. Moffett, mother, Bessie W. Turner, and brothers Pat N. Moffett and Ronnie M. Moffett.
