Reverend Michael R. Proctor

Reverend Michael R. Proctor was born on July 10, 1952 in Coleman, Texas and died on May 20, 2015 in Houston. Survived by a large and wondrous family that includes personal, church, and police, he was grateful for all of the experiences granted to him in his lifetime.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Billie Proctor and Sandra Hamilton Proctor and a grandson, Dakota Proctor.

Michael wrote his own obituary, however those who are left to grieve his leaving and cherish our memories of him would like to add that he is also survived by widow Cathie Proctor of Baytown; children, Rochelle (and Marshall) Bradley of Bryan, Billie R. (and Rhonda) Proctor of De Ridder, Louisiana, Mathew (and Becky) West of Houston, and Nathan (and Jackie) West of Missouri City; grandchildren Robert, Nicolas, Sophia, David Michael, Kolton, Keaton, Eva and Olivia; sisters Patricia Bowen of Fort Worth and Pamela Smith of Granbury, and brother Mitchel Proctor of Seattle, Washington.

Michael's achievements in community and church work are too numerous to list. All of his activities were driven by his love of people and his desire to serve God through relationships.

Mike attended schools in Burleson, TX then earned a bachelor of music degree from Tarleton State University and a master of divinity degree from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. Practicing and playing piano was Mike's way of relaxing.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with a memorial service to begin at 4:00 p.m. at St. Mark's United Methodist Church on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 presided by Rev. Charles Ruehl and Rev. Erbie Gonzales. Inurnment will be in the St. Mark's United Methodist Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church Endowment Fund.
