Raymond Gene Jordan, 56, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014, in his Baytown, Texas home after a 12 year battle with cancer. Raymond's warmth and smile attributed to many terms of endearment including ""Ray"", ""Big Ray"", ""Pop"", ""Pops"", ""Coach"" and ""Ramone"".
Raymond was born October 24, 1957 in Dumas, Texas to parents Roy and Maudine Jordan. Raymond and his family moved to Hamlin, Texas when he was in third grade. He soon met Debi Cary. Debi was not only his third grade Valentine but his future wife, best friend and life long love. Debi and Raymond were married August 12, 1978 in Hamlin.
Raymond received a degree in Business Management from Lee College and continued his education at Lamar University. He began his career with Conoco Phillips over 35 years ago. He was passionate about his job and his Conoco Phillips family.
Raymond had a passion for his job, but priorities were God, family, and friends. There was nothing more he loved to talk to others about than those three topics, especially while cooking up some steaks on the barbecue. One of his joys was to coach youth sports. For 15 years he coached and inspired young people in baseball, softball, football and soccer, and served on the Board of Directors for Baytown North Little League. Raymond was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He found more joy in seeing others gain a big trophy than himself. Aside from hunting, he enjoyed travel and spending time at the river in New Braunfels with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Maudine Jordan and brother, Milton Jordan. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Debi Jordan of Baytown, Texas; daughter and son-in law, Candace and Justin Kirby of Houston, Texas; son, Cameron Jordan of Baytown, Texas; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joye and Harold Mayo of Hamlin, Texas; niece and nephew, Kathleen and Chad Jordan of Odessa, Texas; great niece, Ashleigh Jordan of Odessa, Texas; goddaughter, Emily Tilton of Baytown, Texas; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
