Olga Bernice Stringer Alvis, 89, of Baytown, TX was born December 24, 1915 in Broaddus and passed away Thursday, November 24, 2005 in a Baytown hospital. She was a member of the Exxon Annuitants, First Baptist Church, Women’s Club of Baytown, Minerva Club, Wooster Garden Club, and various bridge clubs.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 26, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Ingram and Rev. Carey Froelich officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Jasper.
Servings as pallbearers will be Jerry Witt, W. E. “Bill” Duplantis, Tom Elmore, Calvin Whitaker, Paul Parkinson, J. M. Williams, John Powell, and Rusty Regan. Honorary pallbearers will be Eldon Cloud and Brad Duplantis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, O. C. and Ethel Stringer, brother, Claude Allen Stringer, and sister, Edith Willis and is survived by her husband, James B. Alvis of Baytown; sons and daughters-in-law, James C. and Sue Beth Alvis of Austin and Joel B. and Diane Alvis of Spring; grandchildren and their spouses, James Andrew and Dena Alvis, Paul S. and Gina Alvis, Jeffrey J. and Tiffany Alvis, and Sara and Matt Daly; 6 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
