Nita Faye Emfinger Gibson (Nanny), 71, was born on “the 3rd and the 30th of ‘44” in Jonesville, LA. She was a longtime resident of Baytown, Texas. She was called Home on Sunday, January 31, 2016. Faye was a graduate of Baytown’s Robert E. Lee High School, class of 1962. She was a member of Coady Baptist Church where she was also baptized. She was especially proud to be a member of the Cedar Bayou Chapter #11 Order of Eastern Star. She worked at US Steel for many years and also for Northwestern Steel. While she held various positions, she primarily gauged plate and was also an overhead crane operator. She was very proud that she received certifications for pipefitting and welding from Lee College. Family was of the utmost importance to her and she strived to attend ALL gatherings. She enjoyed playing with her great-grandchildren and cheering them on whether it was on the softball field or when they were singing her a song, drawing a picture for her, or just “showing out”. She got so much joy from handing out a “prize” to each child, each of them knowing it would be candy. She loved Christmas and really enjoyed dying Easter eggs with the great-grandchildren. She liked to joke whether it was during card games or chatting over dinner; she especially loved to sneak away to Aunt Lou’s house. Everyone who knew her can attest to the fact that she was strong, independent, stubborn and even slightly outspoken. Above all else, when you left her company you’d know you were loved and cherished. I think we can all agree, “she was a good ol’ gal."
