Nina was born on August 25, 1921 to Hugh and Rebecca Icet Welch in Cove, Texas. After graduating from Barbers Hill High School in 1938, she attended Sam Houston State University where she met the love of her life, husband Joe F. Presnall.
Nina and Joe were married on December 19, 1940. She was a dedicated wife and homemaker, supporting Joe throughout his service in WWII and later on as a devoted mother to their three children. She was a talented seamstress, spending countless hours creating clothes and dresses for her family, as well as an outstanding cook. She was often found delivering coffee or lunch to “the boys” in the rice field. Her favorite pastime was collecting antique glassware and her collection could put any museum to shame!
Nina’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, who she prioritized over all else. Her back porch was always open for family parties, fish frys, birthdays or just sitting and talking. She was the heart and soul of her family and she will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Rebecca Welch; husband of 62 years Joe, sisters Irma Cox and Stella Chapman, and son in law, Wayne Sullivan.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Gwen Tye of Bastrop, daughter and son in law Carolyn and Bruce Simpson of Baytown, daughter Sandy Sullivan of Cove, and son and daughter in law Joey and Lori Presnall of Cove. Grandchildren include Daniel Simpson and wife Tina, Lance Wiley, Jenifer Lake and husband Stephen, Becky Rodgers and husband David, and Josh Presnall and wife Jennifer. Great-grandchildren are Logan and Landon Lake, Nicholas Simpson, Paige Wiley and Luke and Kate Rodgers.
