Mildred Odein Gibbs was born in Big Creek, Mississippi on May 25, 1924, and passed away peacefully on June 19, 2014, in Baytown, Texas. Odein was a graduate of Mississippi State College for Women, and was employed as a school teacher in the Goose Creek CISD for many, many years – mostly at Lamar Elementary School. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church for several decades, and leaves behind many dear friends there.
Odein was an avid gardener, earning Yard of the Month honors in Eva Maud several times. Other hobbies and activities included numerous volunteer opportunities, knitting, sewing, crochet, travel, baking and cooking, books and magazines, and spending quality time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Gibbs, her father and mother Harry and Irene Warner, and sisters Mary Alice Hollingsworth and Margaret Caldwell. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Deann and Bobby Fudge, grandsons Christopher and Michael Fudge, sisters Grace Donovan and Bobbye Bouzek, brother Paul Warner, and numerous nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, June 23, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Jake Porter officiating. Burial will follow at Hill of Rest Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Douglas Donovan, Jason Donovan, Christopher Fudge, Michael Fudge, and Frank Hutchins.
