Manuel De los Santos Coy of Crosby, TX was born on September 1, 1926 in St. Paul, Texas to Juan & Maria Hanson Coy. He was raised and lived in El Campo with his 4 brothers and 7 sisters before joining the United States Marine Corps at the young age of 18. After his Honorable Discharge, he sailed the seas as a Merchant Marine. At the age of 29, he married the Love of his life, Leonor Rivera on January 16, 1956 at St. Robert's Catholic Church in El Campo and moved to Baytown. He then worked for the Texas Highway Department for over 30 Years.
Manuel retired in 1986 and built his home in Crosby where he lived until he was greeted by Our Lord and heavenly family on his 80th birthday, where he peacefully passed away with his loving wife and children by his side.
In their 50 years of marriage they raised five children, Nora Irene, Manuel Ricardo, Roel Rogelio, Lionel Arturo and Eliza Ann. His years read 1926-2006, but the important thing to remember is the dash. The dash represents all his life and his life’s memories.
Manuel was a member at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Highlands.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Monday, September 4, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church with Rev. John Zabelskas officiating. Burial will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Roel Rogelio Coy, Jr., Cpl Derek Michael Coy, US Marine Corps, Eric Lee Delgado, Robert Andrew Delgado & Kevin Ross Delgado, nephews, Joel Coy & Abel Coy and son-in-law, Robert Delgado. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters, Kristen Suzanne Coy, Larisa Leonor Coy, Marisa Elvira Coy and Sarah Leonor Rodriguez.
Manuel was preceded in death by his son, Lionel Arturo Coy, parents Juan & Maria Hanson Coy, his brother Guadalupe Coy, and sisters Herminia Camarillo, Enriqueta Saucedo, Maria Coy & Amelia Coy.
Manuel is survived by his wife, Leonor R. Coy of Crosby; daughters and sons-in-law, Nora Irene and Robert Delgado of Deer Park and Eliza Ann and Tito Rodriguez of Crosby; and sons and daughters-in-law, Manuel Ricardo and Terry Coy and Roel Rogelio and Lupe Coy, all of Baytown.
He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Roel R. Coy Jr., Eric Lee Delgado, Kristen Suzanne Coy, Robert Andrew Delgado, Cpl Derek Michael Coy, US Marine Corps, Larisa Leonor Coy, Marisa Elvira Coy, Kevin Ross Delgado & Sarah Leonor Rodriguez; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe Coy and Lionel and Gerry Coy, all of El Campo and Romeo and Lidia Coy of Baytown; sisters and brother-in-law, Matilde Arredondo and Hilaria Benavidez, both of El Campo and Demetria and Fernando Cisneros of Indio, CA; sister-in-law, Teresa Cerillo of Victoria; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that he adored deeply.
